Environmental Specialist

Edmond OK

We are currently seeking an experienced and knowledgeable full-time Environmental Specialist. The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field

5-10 years minimum experience in Environmental Field

Skilled and knowledgeable in NEPA programming and permitting requirements.

Significant knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements.

Technical expertise in the natural and human environment.

Experience with 404 permitting, mitigations, storm water, noise, biological, Hazardous Waste (LUST), DCC Remediation and Radiation Safety is beneficial.

Oversee and prepare Environmental Assessments (EA), Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), and Categorical Exclusions (CATX).

Candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, working with others in a team setting, communicating directly with the outside agencies, clients, project engineers, and technicians while working on multiple projects at the same time.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Liaise with the ODOT Environmental Programs Divisions and other government and regulatory agencies.

Determine data collection methods for research projects, investigations, and surveys.

Collect and compile environmental data from samples of air, soil, water, food, and other materials for scientific analysis.

Analyze samples, surveys, and other information to identify and assess threats to the environment.

Develop plans to prevent, control, or fix environmental problems, such as land or water pollution.

Provide information and guidance to government officials, businesses, and the general public on possible environmental hazards and health risks.

Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain their research and findings.

Prepare, review, and update environmental investigation reports.

Obtain, update, and maintain plans, permits, and standard operating procedures.

Provide technical support for environmental remediation projects and for legal actions.

Analyze scientific data and conduct quality-control checks.

Monitor the progress of environmental improvement programs.

Inspect industrial and municipal facilities and programs to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Advise corporations and government agencies about procedures for cleaning up contaminated sites.
