North Coast Project Manager

Position Type: Part-time (29 hours per week maximum)

Reporting: Director of Conservation Operations

Location: Preferred North Coast area but negotiable

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Lowcountry Land Trust is seeking a mission-driven, personable, and self-motivated Project Manager who will play a key role in our organization, engaging new landowners, contributing to a collective conservation strategy and stewarding existing conservation interests and landowner relationships with a prticular emphasis on focus areas within the Lowcountry’s North Coast. The position is instrumental in ensuring the Land Trust’s longterm success by enabling the organization to build, nurture, and maintain strong relationships with the Land Trust’s core stakeholders – private landowners. In this role, the North Coast Project Manager will identify conservation prospects as well as steward existing relationships in the North Coast Focus Areas (Winyah Bay, Santee River, Santee Cooper Lakes).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Land Protection & Acquisition Duties:

• Cultivate and develop new conservation projects

• Identify and prioritize conservation prospects in relation to the organization’s conservation plan

• Engage and educate new landowners on conservation opportunities

• Serve as landowner liaison during both the cultivation and project management phases of new conservation projects

• Conduct proactive land protection fieldwork within the North Coast Focus Areas including but not limited to: landowner cultivation, project development, organizing focus area meetings, etc.

• Identify and cultivate philanthropic opportunities

• Assist Conservation staff on special projects or project development as assigned by supervisor

• Other duties as assigned

 

Stewardship Duties:

• Steward both relationships and protected land interests

• Monitor protected properties as assigned

• Respond to landowner inquiries and requests

• Provide and conduct landowner outreach and education

• Collaborate with Director of Science & Stewardship to resolve any emergent issues on protected properties

• Connect landowners to technical and financial resources

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with a minimum 2 years of experience in project management

• Ability to work collaboratively and creatively with staff across departments

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to cultivate relationships

• Ability to manage multiple projects or assignments with defined requirements and specific outcomes

• Strong organizational skills

• Strong self-direction

• Attention to detail and familiarity with legal documents

• Ability to learn new software tools quickly

 

Desired:

• Conservation, not for profit organization, and/or public agency experience

• Experience working with communities underrepresented in land conservation

• Experience monitoring conservation easement protected properties

• Familiarity with Conservation Track and/or ArcGIS
