Reporting Relationships: This position reports to Renewables Supply Chain Manager
Responsibilities: The Strategic Sourcing Wind Generation Specialist will be responsible for supporting strategies brought forth by the Renewable Supple Chain Manager. Following the companies policies in procurement & and bidding instructions to ensure AES obtains all the value to reduce cost drivers while maximizing revenues through the best possible AEP in each project. Approximately up to 30% of potential national business travel required.
Specific responsibilities include:
Research analyze and coordinate with Wind Operations Staff to propose optimization alternatives (Non-Original Equipment Manufacturers-OEM Services, new markets, technology, OEM relations)
Work with internal customers to fulfill the needs of the sites for material & services
Creating Purchase orders from requisitions using SAP
Identify and evaluate potential vendors including facilitating vendor selection
Facilitate bid events for AES for 3rd party services / materials
Excellent knowledge on the technical specifications related to the nacelle, rotor, drive train, gearbox, mechanical brakes, generators/converter, towers, pitch controls, bearings, control/monitoring systems and protocols
Clear understanding of all the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components on wind turbines as well as the main drivers for reliability performance (i.e. gearboxes)
Clear understanding of the typical maintenance plans/cycle and routines performed on the turbines right from the start up, including weather/demand conditions factors
Experience and Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3+ years of experience in Wind Power Generation/Engineering or Construction (engineering or equivalent technical field) and a track record of project development and operations. Strong analytical background with ability to build relations and great communication skills. Individuals must be able to demonstrate capabilities and succeed in the development of consensus from diverse opinions in a highly fluid and sometimes ambiguous multi-cultural environment
In addition, we expect the qualified candidate to have:
Strong contract negotiation skills
Knowledge and experience with sourcing/procuring Wind Energy equipment, services and construction
Solid computer skills, especially on Excel
Experience in supplier qualification and supplier development
Knowledge of SAP MM module (desirable)
Knowledge of SAP Ariba (desirable)
Education: Undergraduate degree preferably Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy.
Compensation: Compensation for the successful candidate will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Components will include a base salary, and an incentive bonus
