Environmental Inspector

Ecology and Environment, Inc, Member of WSP, is seeking an Environmental Inspector for our dedicated contract office in Tallahassee, Florida. This position requires substantial travel and is responsible for supporting projects for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Petroleum Restoration Program. Our successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in environmental protection, contaminated site assessment, or site remediation.

 

Responsibilities:

Travel to properties throughout the state of Florida to observe site assessment and site remediation activities

Document sampling and field methodologies for conformance with applicable program SOPs

Conduct site walkovers, verify locations of monitoring wells, treatment wells, and structures that affect site logistics

Complete standardized inspection forms including photo documentation of site conditions observed

Verify state owned equipment at sites and complete inventory verification via electronic scanner

Follow weekly inspection schedules to meet inspection metrics

Communicate with property owners and contractors and provide FDEP project managers with status updates

Download and review site documents related to inspections.

Maintain company vehicle

 

Requirements:

1 to 3 years of related professional experience with Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in physical/natural science or engineering or 5 years related professional experience without a Degree

Current OSHA 40-hr training or the ability to complete the training upon hire

Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to site locations throughout Florida with overnight travel as necessary.

Strong organizational and time management skills

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with property owners and consultants

Ability to understand and summarize technical information

Experience with FDEP field sampling SOPs and industry drilling methods is preferred.

Ability to utilize lap top computer to remotely complete inspection forms and download required documents
