New Jersey Conservation Foundation, the state’s largest land conservation non-profit organization seeks a Land Steward to manage preserved lands in Northern and Central New Jersey.
Responsibilities include basic property monitoring and maintenance, recruiting and managing volunteers, maintaining hiking trails, removing invasive species, leading public programs, and designing and implementing habitat restoration projects. The position involves significant in-state travel, weekend hours, and physically demanding work activities. Candidate must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekend and evening hours, and use their personal vehicle for work.
Candidates must possess a passion for conservation and a commitment to NJ Conservation’s mission. Qualifications to be considered include: knowledge of native ecology, practical skills including carpentry and use of outdoor power tools. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, a Bachelor’s degree, and have at least one year experience in a related field.
