Project Associate

Seattle WA or Bend OR

With offices in Seattle, Wenatchee and Bend, the Northwest Land Protection team is looking for a Project Associate who will support the four Project Managers in preserving critical open space and environmentally sensitive lands throughout the Pacific Northwest.

We are open to applicants in both Bend, OR and Seattle, WA



Assists project staff in all phases of land acquisition projects and programmatic initiatives, including project research, initial outreach, and coordination with title companies, appraisers, surveyors and other consultants.

Proficiently use a web based, GIS tool to research and identify project areas including research on land ownership, land use patterns, funding priorities, natural resource data related to conservation acquisitions.

Responds to inquiries by individuals, community groups and government agencies regarding projects.

Responsible for various administrative tasks.

Prepares graphic and written materials for presentations and other project related needs.

Outreach – attend community meetings, build relationships with advocacy partners, garner support for projects as needed

Interacts on a limited basis with landowners, agency staff, community groups, partners and outside professionals.

Performs other relevant duties as necessary.



Bachelor’s Degree preferred;

Experience in a support position, or equivalent education.

Course work or experience in real estate, environmental studies, public policy, or related area.

Ability to balance sound business sense and judgment with commitment to land preservation.

Superior written and oral communications skills.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to work on complex projects.

Proficient with computers, graphics and spreadsheets.

Experience with GIS, mapping and legal descriptions a plus.

Ability to work under pressure, juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Ability to work independently or as a team member as appropriate.

Ability to take initiative, make suggestions, be creative and solve problems.

Demonstrated commitment to open space and land preservation a plus.

Strong people skills, ease with of many types of personalities.
