The Native Village of Eyak is accepting applications for a DENR Fisheries Technician II.
The DENR Tech II is a full-time, seasonal position.
This is a mid-level technician position within the Native Village of Eyak’s Department of the Environment and Natural Resources. The position will support project managers in successfully continuing the long-term Copper River Chinook salmon monitoring program. Responsibilities include; fish ID; PIT and radio-tagging; collection of biometrics, scales, genetic samples; operation of research fishwheels and use of multibeam fish imaging sonar. The majority of work occurs at two well-established remote field sites. Travel, fieldwork, boat operation, and remote living for an extended period of time is required
Education and Experience Requirement
BS or BA in a scientific field, OR college student with a declared major in a science related field and minimum 2 year completed coursework, OR 2+ year work experience in fisheries or similar field. Relevant experience may be taken in lieu of education. Minimum two years of experience working in the biological sciences. Three months’ experience with remote field research, sampling and data collection. Must have boat operation experience.
