The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission is now recruiting for the 23nd Waterways Conservation Officer Trainee Class to be held January 2021.

Starting salary of $34,113 plus comprehensive benefits.

Full-time employment

This position is 40 hours per week - shifts vary depending on operational requirements and include weekends and holidays.

This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 55 or 25 years of service.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Waterways Conservation Officer Trainee participates in an approximate six months training period of 19 weeks classroom and 12 weeks field training in law enforcement principles and practices, fish and boat laws, watercraft safety, environmental protection and other areas.

Successfully complete the program and be promoted to a Waterways Conservation Officer, with an increase in salary.

 

Qualifications:

Necessary Special Requirement - All employees must successfully complete the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission Certified Basic Police Academy (Act 120) training prior to appointment.

Necessary Special Requirement - All positions require possession of an active PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Necessary Special Requirement - All employees must be at least 21 years of age

You must submit proof of Municipal Police Officers' Education Training Commission, Act 120 Certification, OR documentation of attendance in a certified Act 120 training academy with a graduation date no later than September 16, 2020. Legal Requirements:

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.

Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including, but not limited to, PA State Police, Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI clearance.

 

Commonwealth employment requirement:

A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and drug screening.
