The North America Energy Conservation Specialist directs the organization’s efforts for the responsible use of natural resources and protection of the environment, primarily by reducing the use of utilities and promoting best operation within facilities. The individual uses various tools to monitor equipment & building utility consumption to determine energy reduction projects for the organization. The North America Energy Conservation Specialist collaborates with utility providers, energy services and equipment suppliers and internal associates to coordinate energy conservation programs. This position will provide technical analysis, review, measurement, and verification projects for improvements in performance or supply contracts and will make recommendations to leadership.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead the organization’s efforts in reducing energy consumption and promoting best operation of all facilities.
Partner with facilities staff and corporate functions to analyze data and implement energy reduction and cost saving activities.
Support the development of systems to track energy consumption for all NA facilities and help to ensure energy audits are performed in accordance with Group Policy on sustainability.
Conduct technical analysis/reviews for energy projects, providing project engineering cost estimates and risk assessments.
Has a baseline knowledge in energy/utility accounting software as well as utility company rate structures and analyze data output for trends or any deviations that need further investigating.
Establish working relationships with all necessary EPCM firms (with focus on energy conservation and generation resources) required to execute energy recommendations.
Perform building “walk-throughs” and identify energy conservation measures in both commercial and industrial facilities.
Effectively develop scopes of work for and manage consulting engineers performing Investment Grade building audits.
Recommend best methods for measurement and verification of system performance during the acquisition phase.
Conducts interim reviews during project construction to assess guaranteed impact of any changes to the original contract scope of work.
Develop/streamline existing reporting capabilities from a software standpoint and a usability perspective and investigate new technologies.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment
Bachelor’s degree required. Electrical Engineering preferred
Knowledge of utility conservation management program development and implementation
Ability to analyze and interpret data
Knowledge of acceptable facilities maintenance methods and practices
Ability to conduct on-site inspections of all facilities
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical equipment and controls
Knowledge of energy and utility industry
Ability to travel 50% or more
