The Development Specialist is a part-time (25 hours/week), year-round position responsible for supporting activities and projects in the Development Department. The Development Specialist will manage daily gift entry, produce individualized acknowledgment letters, maintain data integrity, add new data to the database, and assist in other fund raising activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Enter data into the Raiser's Edge database such as contact information, gifts, and other information according to organization policies and procedures
Generate renewal and acknowledgement letters
Maintain records, files and membership materials
Work with volunteers on department mailings
Produce reports as directed
Assist the Development Department with other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education/Training: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree with experience in data management, information systems, non-profit management, or a related field.
Experience: Two or more years of experience with data entry and well-developed computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications required. Experience with Raiser’s Edge 7 or similar software strongly preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong attention to detail
Basic understanding of Constituent Relationship Management systems and knowledge of gift/batch processing
Understanding of the importance of data and how it informs the development team’s work to help identify, cultivate, ask, and steward donors
Ability to follow standard processes and procedures, data checks, and reports
Effective communication skills
Possess high ethical standards and confidentiality
Organization and time management skills with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Ability to interpret instructions and execute in a timely manner
Ability to meet deadlines and escalate issues in a timely manner
Ability to present solutions and make decisions based on analysis and judgment
Job Conditions/Work Location: Open office work space with active team atmosphere
Physical Requirements: Sitting for prolonged periods, typing on a computer keyboard, lifting objects of 25 pounds or less
Equipment Used: Computer, audio-visual systems, printer/copier
