Prescott Farm Environmental Education Center seeks a part-time Communications Manager to join our team and help advance our mission of connecting people to the natural world. PFEEC is dedicated to providing hands-on experiential learning opportunities for all ages through a variety of programs offered year-round. The Communications Manager will enhance public awareness of PFEEC’s programs and initiatives, providing clear and consistent targeted messaging that facilitates communication with members, donors, volunteers and supporters on an ongoing basis and builds upon PFEEC’s reputation as a leader in experiential education.
Primary responsibilities of the position are as follows:
Assists in the development and implementation of marketing and public relations strategies designed to build appreciation and support for PFEEC’s initiatives, programs, services and activities.
Identifies and evaluates target markets for all PFEEC programs and establishes a comprehensive communications and marketing plan to grow and sustain Prescott Farm’s various programs.
Collaborates with Advertising and Events Manager to develop, update and maintain marketing & events budgets, establishing consistent messaging, and designing marketing and communications materials.
Establishes and maintains procedures and formats for marketing and public relations materials and activities, continuously drawing from best practices to market PFEEC’s initiatives, programs, services and activities.
Assists with research, design and implementation of a fundraising and development plan.
Collaborates with all staff to implement existing strategic plan.
Coordinates public relations activities to increase the visibility of PFEEC maintaining good public relations with local media contacts, constituents, and community leaders.
Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess the following education and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, marketing, and/or public relations with experience working as part of a development team in the nonprofit sector preferred.
Proficient in all MS Office Products Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize projects and assignments, maintain a positive attitude, and produce professional results under deadlines.
Demonstrated experience producing quality marketing and PR communications and using websites and social media for communications
Possession of valid state driver’s license.
Must pass a criminal background check.
Knowledge of or interest in nature, gardening, farming, outdoor recreation, natural history, or science preferred.
