SACE is currently soliciting applications for two related positions. Applicants who have previously submitted materials for the Energy Policy Staff or Solar Program director need not reapply, and may be among those being considered for further review to fill these positions.
The two related positions include one with a focus on energy efficiency and the other being a more general clean energy policy analyst position. The energy efficiency position could be hired at a program director level (greater work experience, leadership skills and substantive background expected), or both positions could be hired at an energy policy manager level position.
Our priorities for locating these positions are North Carolina (preferably Raleigh-Durham) and Tennessee (preferably Memphis). Other locations of interest include Atlanta and Knoxville, and SACE is often flexible on work location in the Southeast (Carolinas, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Alabama).
SACE is seeking one or two leaders to promote clean energy policy across the Southeast as an Energy Policy Manager or potentially Energy Efficiency Program Director. The scope of duties includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Advocacy on diverse topics such as rate design, utility resource planning/procurement, and financial aspects of energy efficiency or renewable energy program development
Conducting research on electric power market trends, including development across the Southeast, costs across the industry, and policies around the country
Development of research-based strategic plan and lead execution of that plan
Collaboration with stakeholders and allies, particularly in the renewable energy development and energy efficiency program industries
The ideal candidate will have professional experience that demonstrates an understanding of energy policy issues and solid skills in most of the following areas: writing, public speaking, analytic and computer applications. Experience with state agencies, decision-makers, media, or non-profit advocacy is necessary. While modest exceptions may be made, a minimum of four years of relevant work experience has been typical of successful applicants in the past, and at least eight years at the program director level.
While SACE generally prefers to locate new staff in our principal offices in Atlanta GA, Knoxville TN and Asheville NC, one of these positions is most likely to be filled in North Carolina, ideally the Raleigh-Durham region. We are also strongly encouraging applicants from Memphis, TN. SACE will consider applicants with geographic interests in other locations in Tennessee, the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida or Alabama. Salary offers are commensurate with nonprofit compensation in the Southeast, and include a full benefits package.
