About the position
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to support Invenergy’s development team through media activities – creating and executing strategies to support Invenergy’s rapidly growing business. The Strategic Communications Associate will provide media and marketing support to the Communications, Public Affairs, and Development teams. This position will focus on content management and media engagement and monitoring for Invenergy’s development projects (e.g. wind, solar or natural gas projects) across the country. This position will report to Senior Manager, Strategic Communications. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required.
Research and draft materials, including presentations, press releases, talking points, fact sheets, media lists, and social media content
Build and maintain media lists, draft pitch materials, and assist in sustaining relationships with reporters.
Take initiative to learn about our host communities and connect with our audience where Invenergy is developing projects
Collaborate and coordinate with the Public Affairs team and Project Development team to stay apprised of project development timelines
Be knowledgeable about development and siting issues that relate to our project work and communications
Help manage activities of subcontractors and third-party vendors
Other tasks as assigned
Bachelor’s Degree in the areas of communications, public relations, political science, public affairs, public policy, or other relevant field with well-rounded training required
3-5 years relevant industry experience in strategic communications or public affairs
Strong writing and communication skills
Strong organizational skills and high level of attention to detail
Self-starter with a great work ethic who can work under pressure and maintain quality across multiple assignments
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high achieving, entrepreneurial environment
Outlook, Excel knowledge
Some grassroots or campaign organizing a plus
Background and passion for the energy sector a plus
