The Senior Marketing Manager works under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for managing the development, design, planning and implementation of marketing collateral and campaigns for Western National Parks Association (WNPA) and its National Park Service (NPS) partners, including internal and external communications, regarding events, activities, and retail orientated promotions. They will also oversee and supervise the publishing department by providing general guidance, support, and resources for the development and sales of books.
This role is responsible for completing the following tasks and any related tasks as assigned:
Manage day-to-day operations of the marketing team, including design, content and digital specialists; guides the work of outside contractors, agencies, volunteers and vendors to support the Marketing & Communications department.
Supervise the general operations of the publishing department.
Act as the point of contact for NPS marketing needs.
Communicate and manage cross-functional teams on project goals and deliverables.
Develop brand positioning and acts as a brand expert by ensuring the consistent application across all marketing activities to produce highest possible customer retention.
Oversee and manage departmental budget.
Develop marketing strategies and oversee the marketing campaign components including social media, website content, ecommerce, graphic design and all print and digital media.
Report on key performance indicators for campaigns and marketing efforts.
Help write and copyedit marketing and communications content.
Conceptualize and support the design of marketing materials.
Collaborate with publishing manager to creating and execute marketing plans for current and new publications.
Collaborate with publishing manager to develop and execute publishing strategy.
Conduct market and customer research including surveys to ensure strategies remain relevant.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
This role must possess advanced to expert knowledge of, skill in, and/or ability in the following:
Project and product development, and department management.
Professional marketing writing and editing experience.
Google analytics and other data analysis tools.
Planning, organization, analyzation, problem solving, multitasking, and communication.
Diplomatic and effective communication, verbally and in writing, with internal employees as well as WNPA’s board of directors, visitors, members, donors, volunteers, and members of the public.
Interpreting instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or other formats.
Making independent judgments and maintain attention throughout performance of duties.
Working alone and with a team.
Understanding of applicable Federal and state labor laws, relating to employee management.
Computer programs including Internet, databases, and Microsoft Office suite (primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint).
Equipment including computers, printers, calculators, multiline touch tone phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and dollies.
This role must be able to meet the following physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation:
Primarily perform work indoors, where temperature is moderate and controlled by office environmental systems. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, but may become loud during times of high customer volume or special events. Occasional work may be performed outside under natural conditions. Environment will vary when outside work or travel is required.
Sit at a desk for up to eight hours per day. Walking and standing are occasionally required.
Make repetitive motions, especially of the hands and wrist (grasp, pinch, type, write) and legs and back (stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, crouch).
Communicate effectively (talk, listen and hear, see both near and far with accurate depth and color perception).
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
Occasionally push and/or pull up to 50 pounds a distance of about 25 feet.
Occasional travel may be required to various local events or speaking engagements. Occasional overnight trips may be required.
Qualifications and Experience
This role must have the following qualifications and/or experience unless otherwise noted:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, or Business Administration; Master’s degree (preferred)
Minimum five years of experience leading and managing a team in marketing, creative or in a related field.
Previous employment or association with a nonprofit environmental organization (preferred).
