This position is a primary support to BD, O&M, and AFC for the meteorological analysis, layout design, turbine selection, and energy optimization of wind farms. Position will conduct wind and energy resource analysis on internal projects and due diligence of wind resource and energy assessments from third party engineers and potential mergers and acquisitions. Position will define, update, investigate and share know-how, procedures, models and tools about specific methodologies for the technological area of competence
Develop optimized turbine layouts for various turbine technologies and site capacities in order to maximize project value.
Develop site measurement plans including met mast siting and configurations, and conduct meteorological assessments of greenfield and M&A project.
Create internal wind resource and energy assessment reports and conduct due diligence on third party reports for financial evaluation.
Support turbine suitability analysis for potential wind farm projects
Conduct on-site wind and site analysis of greenfield and developing projects, and support turbine micro-siting
Support the Wind Center of Excellence (W-CoE) team defining official EGP operational instructions and procedures
Support O&M in operational performance evaluation
Stay apprised of current and emerging research and trends in the field of Wind Resource Assessment
Manage Independent Engineering consultants and review reports created by for Power Performance testing of wind turbines. Understanding of IEC 61400-12-1 necessary.
Design meteorological campaigns for successful wind resource analyses. Coordinate with met mast contractors, and internal business development, environmental engineering, GIS, and procurement departments.
Manage Research and Development activities with Universities and Research Institutions

Advanced understanding of wind flow principles and boundary layer meteorology
Proficient with Wind Resource software such as WindPro, WindFarmer, WAsP, CFD models
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with meteorological measurement equipment, techniques, and standard (in particular IEC 61400 guidelines)
Experience with power performance testing process
Proficient with GIS mapping software such as ArcGIS, X-Map a plus
Experience with coding and analytical and statistical software such as Matlab a bonus
Ability to walk in rugged terrain and various climate conditions. Clime ladders, stairs and lift.
Degree in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Engineering or Physics. MS or PhD preferred
5+ years wind analysis experience with a wind power developer, wind turbine manufacturer or wind power consulting engineering firm
Domestic and international travel up to 25% of time
