Solar Director of Field Operations

The Director of Field Operations is responsible for performing project management duties on a professional level and reports to the CEO, or to another management approved supervisor.

The Director of Field Operations has the overall responsibility to ensure that constructions projects are completed successfully, projects costs are managed to budget, and the schedule is completed in accordance with the contract milestones. The Director of Field Operations manages and directs Project Managers and Project Superintendents at multiple construction sites, and is also responsible for ALL operations for the construction of solar projects and personnel. The Director of Field Operations communicates with various departments that affect a construction project from legal, contracts administration, interconnection and rebates, engineering, purchasing, logistics, and direct hire construction from time of project contracting to its completion. The Director of Field Operations acts as the authorized representative with responsibility for overall project contact administration and client management.


The duties of the Director of Field Operations’ processes and functions as determined by SunEnergy1 standards will include, but are not limited to:

Build, manage, and communicate project schedules to the CEO, manage project timelines for each solar farm from start to finish, monitor and document progress along the way

Ensure Superintendents are leading project teams, such as, but not limited to: electrical foremen, mechanical foremen and construction crews based on weekly, monthly goals

Work with engineers and electricians to ensure work outputs (CAD designs) comply with standards

Evaluate project resource needs ensuring supply of materials and labor coincide with deadlines

Stay on top of erosion and environmental issues

Work with Environmental Health and Safety to maintain strict safety guidelines are followed at each site

Implement quality control teams to verify quality of all jobs completed

Review and approve all invoices from vendors and submit to accounting

Ensure that projects are completed on time, on budget; safely and fully meet customer expectations

Write site specific scope of work if subcontractor is engaged

Search and create relationships with new vendors that will improve pricing and efficiency

Must have a North Carolina Unlimited Electrical License

Works in the field and is hands-on with managers.



Ability to work in extreme outdoor environments (example: hot sun, cold, wet weather, mud, etc.)

Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body

Ability to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time

Be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks

Able to work 8 -12 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required including occasional night shifts

Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers


RESPONSIBILITIES, to include, but not limited to:

Regular, reliable and predictable attendance required

Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment

Must display a positive attitude dedicated towards achieving results for the company as well as providing quality service and accuracy

Must be a team player and able to work between multiple departments to reach a common goal

Must maintain a clean and professional appearance and attitude at ALL times while at work, while representing or traveling for the company

Responsible for daily upkeep of your work area

Must be flexible with work hours and be able to work overtime as needed

Must wear required personal protective equipment at all times (hard hat, safety glasses, etc)

Advise immediate supervisor of any safety or job related problems

Must comply with all OHSA safety requirements and regulations
