Renewables Engineer - Solar and Wind

DNV GL is looking to recruit a Renewables Energy Engineer in our Casablanca office, Morocco, as part of an ongoing increase in capacity to meet the market needs of the North African region. The role is primarily technical in nature, including management of technical projects and with elements of business development, and would suit someone who is driven to help solve our customers’ technical challenges.

This appointment is with the Renewables Advisory business within DNV GL. DNV GL is one of the world’s largest provider of independent renewable energy advice and a recognised authority in onshore and offshore wind, solar and energy storage sectors. Our team of dedicated experts are present in all major and emerging global markets for renewable energy.

While currently the role would be focused on the African onshore wind and solar market, there will be opportunities longer-term to be involved in broader geographic markets as well as other technologies.

The successful degree educated candidate would work cohesively within the local team and across departments to establish long-term customer relationships, keeping abreast of industry needs and trends, as well as participation in industry events to ensure that DNV GL's service offerings are well-known and well-respected in the renewables industry.

 

The market is dynamic and fast-paced and in turn the role offers broad, varied and exciting project work, including early responsibility in:

Owner’s Engineering and Measurements

To support our customers in the development, construction and operation of solar and wind projects. The work would also include leading our resource measurement offering based on turn-key met mast campaigns. These projects would include both office and site based work.

 

Lender/Vendor/Buyer’s Technical Advisory services

To support the DNV GL team in assessing and mitigating the customer’s technical investment risk for wind and solar projects, as part of our due diligence services: pre-construction and operational.

 

Independent Engineering

To lead and support failure investigations and/or Root Cause Analysis.

To perform technical and quality assessments of solar equipment and systems.

To work with specialists to perform the investigation work independently.

 

The candidate will cooperate closely, and be supported by, experienced DNV GL Consultants and Specialists from other regions to leverage the company’s global networks to build the energy advisory business and optimize quality project delivery within North Africa.

 

Position Qualifications

Master / Bachelor’s in electrical, mechanical or related engineering discipline, or equivalent from a recognized university

Minimum 5 years relevant industry experience in wind and / or solar renewables and 2 years of experience in a technical consulting capacity.

Previous onsite experience is preferred .

Familiar with International Standards and Local Codes of Practices.

Chartered Engineer of a recognized engineering institutional is preferred.

Excellent command of the French/Arabic and English language; Proficiency in at least one additional language beneficial.

Strong communication and presentation skills, a positive attitude, an open mindset and a team-oriented individual.

Good quantitative and analytical skills.

Excellent organizational and time management skills - Ability to handle tight deadlines and managing multiple tasks.

Has a good understanding of the value chains, value drivers and technological challenges and solutions in the solar and/or wind industry.

Strong commercial acumen and customer orientated approach.

Willingness to travel.

Valid driver license required and acceptable driving record meeting company requirements.
