External Communication Analyst

Portland OR

The External Communications Analyst reports directly to the Senior External Communications Associate and works with multiple departments to advance EDP Renewables North America’s (EDPR) external reputation as a trusted leader in renewable energy development, construction, financing, and operations.

The External Communications Analyst’s primary goal will be to help fuel EDPR’s growth in the renewable energy sector by building broad-based support for the Company’s renewable energy projects, designing new communications materials, strengthening relationships within local communities, educating stakeholders, and enhancing the Company’s image and reputation. This position works closely with internal and external parties to create new communications tools and execute grassroots outreach strategies, promoting renewable energy and addressing questions surrounding wind and solar energy.

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

Collaborates with Communications, Government Affairs, Operations, and Development departments to create and implement grassroots community engagement and social investment plans.

Designs, researches, and drafts copy for external-facing materials, including fact sheets, brochures, invitations, poster boards, display ads, presentations, and other collateral.

Assists with organizing EDPR’s external events, including wind farm tours, dedication events, and various landowner/stakeholder events; coordinating program development, accommodations, site selection, venue set up and break down, promotions, invitations, photography, décor, catering, and other responsibilities.

Maintains the company’s customer relationship database; adds contacts and updates existing contacts in database and helps build mailing lists for e-newsletters.

Identifies strategic social investments in communities surrounding the Company’s renewable energy projects, manages the approval process, and raises internal and external awareness of donations being made.

Generates content for company intranet, external newsletters, website, and traditional media (e.g., op-eds, letters to the editor, press releases).

Develops and implements public relations strategies aimed at generating positive earned media at local and national level.

Responds to requests for information, including requests for video and photos and working with the Legal department on agreements for imagery usage.

Assists with the production of videos and stakeholder testimonials (e.g., drafting scripts and interview questions, conducting interviews, assisting videographer with video shoot logistics).

Additional duties as required.

 

REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field is preferred.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years of marketing, communications, or public relations experience.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office software.

United States, many of which are rural

Demonstrated project management and time management skills

Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time

 

Qualifications

Education

Preferred

Bachelors or better in Marketing or related field.

 

Experience

Preferred

1-3 years: Adobe Creative Suite

1-3 years: Marketing
