Position Overview

Solar PV Installers work under the guidance of the assigned Lead Installer and/or Field Manager. The Installer will work on a team installing solar photovoltaic systems, work with warehouse personnel to ensure adequate inventory, pre-assemble job components, perform electrical wiring (AC and DC), and will always follow safe work practices.


Location & Travel: This position will be based in the Santa Fe area, with required travel to job sites in other areas.


Job Responsibilities

On-site installation of solar PV system from design documents

Carry tools and equipment across work sites and up ladders onto roofs

Work with a high level of quality and integrity

Ensuring adequate inventory for truck

Pre-assemble job components in the warehouse

Layout and assembly of solar modules / array and mounting hardware

Mechanical/structural mounting of racking, modules and electrical equipment

Electrical wiring of solar array/system (AC and DC)

Follow Safety and Quality Protocols

Continuously develop skills


Skills & Qualifications

Prior experience with PV installations; NABCEP certification a plus

Understanding and experience with AC and DC electrical wiring; Journeyman Electrician license is a big plus!

Experience with the safe use of hand-held and power tools

Previous experience in roof work, general construction, or carpentry

Proven ability with various computer applications, e.g. Gmail, databases, etc.

Experience working effectively as a team member

Strong communication skills

Proven ability to work with a high level of quality and integrity

Safely and legally operate personal vehicle and Positive Energy Solar vehicles

Associates Degree preferred


Physical Requirements

1-2 years experience working full days outdoors in inclement weather and extreme environments, e.g. hot sun, snow, crawl spaces, etc.

Proven ability to repeatedly lift, carry, and walk with up to 60 pounds of tools and or equipment

Ability to work in squatting, standing, twisted, and stretched positions

Climbing up and down ladders and walking on uneven ground

Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a team environment


Other Requirements

Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the position as assessed by a qualified medical professional

All candidates must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background and motor vehicle records check

Must have reliable transportation to job sites outside of city limits



Paid Time Off: PTO is for use for sick leave, holidays, vacation, and when levels of business do not require your work. PTO is accrued at .1 hour for every hour worked (1 hour of PTO for every 10 hours worked). Please note that the company is closed during the first week of January every year.

Health Insurance: After the 60-day introductory period, you will be eligible to participate in the group healthcare plan. Positive Energy Solar pays a portion of the employee and dependent monthly premiums for medical.

Gym Membership: If you enroll in one of our Medical Insurance plans you will be able to get a free gym membership at one of the participating gyms, Planet Fitness, Defined, YMCA, and more.

Dental Insurance: After the 60-day introductory period, you will be eligible to participate in the group dental plan.

Vision Insurance: After the 60-day introductory period, you will be eligible to participate in the group vision plan.

Health Savings Accounts: After the 60-day introductory period, you will be eligible to participate in the group HSA and or FSA programs.

401(k) Plan: After six months of employment and 500 hours worked, you are eligible to participate in Positive Energy’s retirement plan.

Solar Discounts: After 60 days of employment, you are eligible for discounts on solar equipment and a photovoltaic system for your home.

Employee Ownership: After six months of employment, you are eligible to purchase shares in the company.

Profit Sharing: Positive Energy pays profit sharing to current employees at an amount and frequency as approved by the Board of Directors.
