Tetra Tech Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Energy Engineer/Professional to provide Energy Project Manager support to the Hawaii Air National Guard (HIANG) in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Energy Project Manager will work on site at client facilities to provide energy program and project coordination, and construction manager support on various federal projects. The Energy Project Manager will work on site at the customer’s facilities at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam to provide comprehensive energy project services. You will identify energy conservation opportunities and help facilitate the implementation of projects, initiatives, and programs that reduce energy consumption and demand, save money, and help the environment. You will augment existing customer capabilities, work with both the customer and Tetra Tech in a team framework, and be an on-site action agent to facilitate energy and cost savings and attain federal and client goals. Primary duties will focus on providing on-site support of day-to-day activities during project development, design, and implementation, to include:
Providing input to design of an ongoing distributed generation (DG) project
Providing on-site construction management support to government during DG project implementation
Developing energy efficiency improvements for facilities
Walking facilities daily to conduct energy audits, identify energy conservation opportunities, and develop projects
Developing renewable energy projects
Performing design reviews
Analyzing energy and utilities data
Recommending improvements to energy and utility procurement operations and maintenance
Working with Tetra Tech, state and federal agencies, and contractors to ensure energy projects are constructed according to plans and specifications, potentially including:
Daily work inspections
Daily reports and photos to record work inspected
Recommendation on rejection of materials or workmanship not conforming to contract requirements
Maintenance of project inspection records and reports
Maintenance of active list of construction and design deficiencies and omissions, indicating corrective status
Technical review of and assistance with contract drawings, specifications, change order requests, contractor submittals, and requests for information
Final inspection support
Assistance with project closeout documentation
Other related duties
The candidate is required to have 3 to 10 plus years of experience in electrical engineering, energy management, energy engineering, construction management for energy-related projects, or energy project management and coordination. Strong experience with energy auditing, project development, life-cycle cost analysis, direct digital controls, commissioning, and building/system optimization is desired. Knowledge of microgrids is highly desired. Previous experience working at Federal / Department of Defense facilities, particularly in Hawaii, is a plus.

BS in engineering or energy-related field is required, but military or civilian experience working at federal installations or experience in energy or construction-related field may be acceptable. Other certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation is a plus.
U.S. citizenship is required, and you must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
The work environment will consist of an office environment, as well as frequent field visits in and around various client facility sites. You must be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those of sedentary work. Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree, such as walking 3 to 6 miles in a few hours. You must be able to climb ladders, access roofs, and access narrow mechanical rooms.
