Project Environmental Scientist - Water Resources

Ashburn VA

We are currently seeking an Environmental Scientist to join the Stormwater Management group in our Ashburn, Virginia office location. The ideal candidate will have 0 – 4 years of experience.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

Provide MS4/VSMP permit program development & implementation support to municipal clients;

Provide Stream, Wetland, and Watershed Assessments;

Participate on field teams performing assessments of BMPs and water quality screening of stormwater outfalls;

Develop documents and perform studies to satisfy regulatory requirements for clients;

Conduct background research on technical issues and write clear reports and memorandums to convey project results to our clients.

 

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

Must have a strong work ethic, great attitude, and high energy.

Bachelor’s or master's degree in Environmental Science or Water Resources Policy and Management

Experience and/or course work with mapping and data analysis using ArcGIS;

Experience and/or course work with AutoCAD Civil 3D is desired but not required;

Experience and/or course work in most of the following areas: Environmental Science, Aquatic Ecology, Hydrology, Water Quality Monitoring and Analysis, Watershed Management and Planning, Wetland Ecology, Field Instrumentation, and Environmental Law;

Proficiency using Microsoft Excel;

Proficiency in Technical Writing (a writing sample will be required);

Must be dependable, responsible, and have excellent written/verbal communications skills;

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and walk up to 2 miles a day;

Must have a valid driver’s license.
