Environmental Field Scientist

Minot ND

Position Description

Will support the hazardous materials program at Minot Air Force Base (AFB). Duties include but are not limited to: assisting with the oversight of the waste accumulation points, the preparation of waste generation documents and reports, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and non-regulated waste characterization and inventory, perform waste characterization, and assisting at the central accumulation site. Deliver containers and pick up and transport drums of wastes. Identify excess hazardous materials. Conduct inspections of shops, facilities, and containers. Consolidate compatible wastes. Track and manage hazardous materials authorizations and distribution.

 

Required Skills

0 - 2 years of work experience in the management of hazardous materials/waste, preferably at a large Federal or commercial manufacturing facility operating as a generator of hazardous wastes. Must be physically able to maneuver 55-gallon drums and be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Experience working with databases. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a must. HAZWOPER training / certification will be required. 

Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.

 

Education

BS in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, related degree, or equivalent.
