Water Treatment Team Lead

New Haven CT

The Regional Water Authority, winner of the Platinum Award for Utility Excellence, is seeking a certified CT Class IV Water Treatment Operator as Water Treatment Team Lead to supervise the operation and maintenance of assigned water treatment plants to maintain water quality standards in accordance with regulations and RWA policies.

The successful candidate will: supervise Water Treatment Operators; provide daily operation of assigned water treatment facilities; schedule various maintenance activities at each facility using computerized maintenance programs; perform laboratory testing to assure compliance with standards and routine process control; compile data on plant operation; coordinate plant activities and operations to meet the needs of the distribution system demand; review all system operating processes and associated equipment; perform adjustments as required; respond to alarms and malfunctions, take corrective action, as required (availability is required 24 hours per day when on-call, including weekends and holidays); implement and monitor safety programs, ensuring that employees utilize all OSHA and RWA safety and health rules and develop and update job safety analysis related to water treatment; provide daily verbal or written updates to the Chief Water Treatment Operator on the operation and maintenance of assigned water treatment facilities; and other duties necessary to accomplish the mission, vision and values of the organization.

Key competencies for this position include: high school diploma or equivalent; must have a CTDPH Class IV Water Treatment OIT Certification at a minimum; excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to problem solve in a team setting; experience with DAF a plus.
