Who we are looking for:

F&R is seeking an Environmental Engineer/Geologist for our Raleigh, North Carolina office. The selected candidate will assist in managing and performing environmental remediation services within our soil and groundwater group. The candidate should be self-motivated and able to work independently on a variety of projects within residential, commercial, and industrial settings.



What you’ll be doing:

Including, but not limited to:

Conducting and coordinating field investigations and related activities for environmental monitoring and data collection (e.g., site inspections, soil/groundwater sampling, soil gas sampling, etc.).

Developing environmental engineering and remediation project budgets and scopes of work.

Overseeing and performing landfill site investigations, including proposal preparation, coordinating and performing assessment activities, and remediation projects.

Supervising and directing on-site activities and providing guidance to junior-level staff.

Preparing various deliverables, such as work plans, site investigation reports, remedial activities reports, feasibility studies, closure reports, and site plans.

Managing and implementing projects involving remedial actions for petroleum-contaminated soil and groundwater sites.

Overseeing and mentoring support staff.

Interacting with existing and potential clients in a confident manner.



What you need to have:

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related field

P.E. or P.G. registration preferred but not required

3+ Years of environmental engineering and remediation services experience

Thorough knowledge of landfill investigations and cleanup, including familiarity with NC Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) regulations and standards

Robust project and task management skills, including scheduling, execution and follow-up

Local candidate with knowledge of area business and industry practices preferred

Strong project or task management skills, including scheduling, execution and follow-up

Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written

Ability to successfully manage numerous assignments and meet deadlines

Ability to work independently, and within a team environment to achieve goals

Valid driver’s license with good standing driving-record

Some travel will be required

Must be willing to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening including a background investigation, drug screening and driving record
