Interim Environmental Services General Manager

Warbird Consulting Partners is seeking an Interim Environmental Services General Manager for an exciting opportunity with one of our clients in the Colorado. Our client has requested this type of work for a specific project and has engaged Warbird to find the most qualified consultant for the project. Key Responsibilities:

Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the division, including provision for the selection and development of employees, pay administration, budget administration, employee safety, employee counseling and motivation, determining priorities, work functions, organization goals and objectives and planning, organizing, integrating and measuring the work performed within the department

Develop and manage all departmental budgets (manpower, expense, inventory and outside service) and the annual capital and operating budget; successfully manage assets and allocates funds within budget to accomplish objectives.

Coaches and mentors staff to achieve institutional goals through both employee and patient rounding; works with staff to identify opportunities for new or streamlined approaches to work processes; establishes work rules, service standards, operational policies and procedures to meet institutional and regulatory requirements and expectations; communicates with members of other departments to coordinate EVS' activities; conducts regular staff meetings.

Establishes department standards, policies and procedures, and priorities

Develops and maintains a professional working relationship with infection control, nurse partners and other department managers; communicates with members of other departments to coordinate housekeeping activities; performs service recovery efforts in a timely fashion; approves and schedules training classes for staff to insure employee skills and behavior is in compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines; assures customer needs and expectations are met; serves on facility-wide committees as requested and required.

Develops and implements work plans based on the annual and strategic plans of the department and institution; approves the quality control plan for the department according to standards, policies and practices of the department and regulatory agencies. Approves major work projects and make sure resources, staff and materials are available to perform the assigned tasks.

Establishes, tracks and reports performance metrics for the department including customer service standards, HCAHPS scores, employee engagement, productivity monitoring and budgetary compliance; assists staff achieve performance standards and identifies opportunities for continual improvement.

Establishes statements of work, works with Purchasing to negotiate contracts and manages outside services relative to the department (i.e. pest control, document destruction, and inventory)

Perform such individual assignments as the Director of Support Services or Chief Financial Officer may direct, establishes and maintains effective work relationships within all departments and the community, maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities


Bachelor's degree in Business or related field

Five (5) years of management or supervisory experience in housekeeping or other support services in a large healthcare institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Proficient in the use of Windows-based office software including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Ability to communicate positively and effectively both written and verbal to a variety of staff, managers, administration and other professionals

Extensive knowledge of infection control and environmental services products and equipment

Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Epic, and other applications as needed


Must be willing to travel to Colorado on a weekly basis to be on site for a Monday - Thursday (sometimes Friday) basis.
