Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc. is seeking a mid-level wetland scientist for its Houston, Texas Regional Office.
This position will require performance of wetland delineations with strict adherence to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers protocol and procedure. Field investigations may include habitat evaluations for threatened and endangered species and/or evaluation of other potentially sensitive resources. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to compose technical reports that present results from field investigations and be capable of developing applications/consultations necessary for various regulatory approvals.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Research and prepare environmental assessments
Write technical reports
Progressive project responsibilities
Frequent overnight travel to field locations will be required. Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as required.
The successful candidate must:
Be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to collaborate in a team setting.
Possess excellent organizational, technical writing, and verbal communication skills are required along with the willingness to travel overnight and work extended hours in a field setting.
Have a bachelor's degree in environmental science/biology or related science field and experience conducting wetland delineations pursuant to Section 404/10 permits is required.
Candidate must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills and demonstrate proficiency operating GPS and GIS equipment and support software.
Proficiency in computer skills.
Project management skills.
