Environmental Field Technician/Asbestos Inspector

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a highly motivated environmental technician to join our Environmental Remediation consulting team in the Greater Boston Area. We are seeking an experienced, dedicated field technician with a minimum of three years’ experience who can support a variety of environmental investigation and remediation projects as well as our existing hazardous building materials support services practice. Specifically, we are looking for experience with asbestos inspection/investigation.

Duties will primarily include providing field support for environmental investigation and remediation activities including environmental media sampling, on-site monitoring and documentation of subcontractors, and remedial system operation and maintenance activities. Responsibilities will also include conducting hazardous building materials inspections, including but not limited to building inspections (asbestos, lead, and PCBs) and performance of indoor air quality assessments and associated sampling. The position will be based out of either our Andover or Dedham, Massachusetts offices.

What you will need to succeed:

3-plus years’ experience in environmental sampling and monitoring for site investigation and remediation projects.

Understanding of basic environmental sampling requirements and procedures for a variety of environmental media, including but not limited to groundwater, surface water, soil, and sediment.

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in environmental science or related field is preferred, with a strong background in remedial systems, site investigation, safety, construction related to environmental cleanup projects.

OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and annual refresher courses.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, keen problem-solving ability, adaptable, and committed to a career in environmental consulting.

Preparation of detailed field notes and taking photographs for inclusion in reports.

Familiarity with remedial system operation and maintenance activities.

Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and follow Standard Operating Procedures.

Preferred candidates will also have experience with asbestos and other hazardous building material inspections, renovations, and abatement projects and a willingness to obtain certification as an Asbestos Inspector in the State of Massachusetts.
