The Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality, seeks an Environmental Engineer.
This is an entry to mid-level environmental engineer position working in a fast paced regulatory environment. As a Waste Management Program permit engineer you will coordinate with regulated entities reviewing technical documents they submit including hazardous waste permit applications and closure plans. This position will work under the close technical supervision of a Professional Engineer.
Develop and maintain a working knowledge of federal, state and local regulations, technicalengineering principles and/or practices applicable to assigned projects and area of expertise.
Assist in preparation and review of hazardous waste facility permits, corrective action orders, and other agreements; and environmental indicator and facility use/reuse evaluations to ensure the adequacy and consistency of such documents/evaluations relative to applicable permitting and corrective action requirements.
Coordinate all projects, activities and tasks, as necessary and appropriate, with internal and external stakeholders including executive staff, regulated facilities, facility consultants, other Program Units/Sections, other DNR Programs/Divisions, the public, local, state and federal agencies; and EPA.
Complete projects, assignments and tasks within established timeframes in conformance with the technical requirements of applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures and guidance. Deliver draft work products for supervisory and
project team review that are complete, accurate and in as close to final format as possible.
Attend training, participate in oversight of projects and review technical literature/publications, guidance documents and new regulations and apply new knowledge and skills gained via formal training and on-the-job experiences to in- depth technical review and administration of assigned projects.
BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program (or equivalent) with educational background in the work areas covered by this position.
Valid driver’s license or ability to provide independent transportation to sites.
State-wide travel for periods of up to one week may be required.
Possibly participate in the department’s medical monitoring program.
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, with the curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) in one of the following fields: Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental, Mining, Nuclear, Petroleum, Industrial, Engineering Management, or other energy-related engineering disciplines.
(A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering program in one of the qualifying fields not accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) requires one of the following: proof of acceptance for the Engineer-In- Training examination by the Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Landscape Architects; proof of Engineer-In-Training registration with a state board; or proof of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.)
