Develop plans and policies to meet with social economic, and physical needs of communities. Directs the technical production of planning assignments and teams. May serve as a Project Manager on a limited basis for select large scale projects. Oversee the work of less experienced staff. Direct, coordinate and review technical work performed by other project team members.
Senior planner focused on managing environmental planning work in our New York office for transportation based projects throughout NY, NJ and CT. This may involve, bridge, highway and rail transit projects. The successful candidate will locally lead environmental planning projects and tasks, including NEPA (with a particular focus on US DOT), SEQR/CEQR, EO215 compliance, while engaging HNTB’s regional and national environmental practitioners and specialists.
The position has a strong focus on preparing work programs and budgets, directing multi-disciplinary environmental studies, leading the preparation of environmental permitting applications, stakeholder outreach, and leading, drafting and writing technical documents. Would also serve as a Project Manager for select projects, and direct, coordinate and review technical work performed by other team members.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Master's Degree in Planning or relevant field
RLA, RA, PE registration or AICP, CEP certification
What You'll Need
Coordinates with project manager, project designer and other disciplines on multiple large scale and complex planning, environmental planning, urban design or landscape architectural projects to ensure that the client's technical requirements of projects are fully met. Performs quality checks to ensure client requirements are met.
Performs various project support tasks where planning involvement is required or requested on major, complex projects.
Prepares scopes of work, fee proposals and responds to RFP’s.
Responsible for significant portions of presentations and public facilitation
May review invoices, billings and budgets.
Assist management with implementation of office-wide technical standards and maintenance of technical resources.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, Planning, Biology, Ecology, Geology or relevant field
