Environmental Compliance Specialist

Position Description

Redhorse Corporation has an immediate need for an Environmental Compliance Specialist who will support the Government by providing support, administrative management and subject matter expertise for a wide variety of initiatives with the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities of this position include:

Attending planning, review and compliance meetings to be conducted at CBP locations nationwide.

Attending scheduled meetings and capture meeting minutes that cover as a minimum, list of action items, environmental impact on project objectives, and any assistance required.

Converting draft environmental documents for CBP internal review into PDF files for easier transmission by e-mail and web storage.

Reviewing all projects and facility operations to ensure that each project is in compliance and producing a written report that discusses whether the project is in compliance with Proposed Action Alternatives, mitigation requirements, permit requirements and other commitments made to resource agencies during previous environmental planning processes and NEPA documentation.

Providing subject matter expertise on environmental review documentation including but not limited to NEPA, ESA, NHPA, CWA, CAA, Coastal Zone management Act, Mitigation Requirements, California Environmental Quality Act, and agency coordination.

Serving as a facilitator for a variety of meetings and ad hoc projects.

Supporting the tracking and reporting of data in the Government systems of record: Comprehensive Tactical Infrastructure Maintenance and Repair (CTIMR), FITT, and TRIRIGA, or their replacements.

Supporting the administrative requirements required to meet the day-to-day mission directly supporting the PMO management.


Minimum Basic Requirements for Skills, Experience and Credentials include:

2 years of in environmental compliance or related work

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field

Intermediate skills with MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook

Proven organizational and project management skills

Adaptability and comfort in working in a fast-paced and sometimes unstructured environment

Self-starter, driven and able to work with limited direction under target time lines

Critical thinking and decision-making skills coupled with strong analysis and problem-solving skills


Preferred Basic Requirements for Skills, Experience and Credentials include:

Technical writing skills for writing scientific documents on environmental studies

Verbal and written communication skills for communicating effectively with environmental regulating authorities, critical reviewing skills for analysis, and development of technical reports on conducted research.

Prior experience with the Department of Homeland Security

Prior government security clearances
