WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Lead Environmental Planner for our Los Angeles, California office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as Project Manager or Environmental Task Manager on CEQA/NEPA compliance projects for a variety of sectors (e.g., transportation, aviation, water, land use) in the greater Southern California region
Prepare and/or review of environmental analyses and documentation prepared pursuant to NEPA and CEQA
Coordinate with technical staff, engineers, and project management teams to advance projects
Prepare and monitor scope, fee, and project schedules
Serve as technical lead on multi-disciplinary projects and pursuits throughout the greater Southern California region
Monitor and engage in regular meetings with major clients, including OCTA, SBCTA, RCTD, the City of Los Angeles, Caltrans, and others to gather information on current and pending future programs or projects
Assist in broader office-wide activities around major project pursuits and strategies
Develop and nurture client relationships to grow business opportunities
Work as part of the Planning & Environmental team in the Orange, San Diego, or Los Angeles office to promote and provide for a vibrant, collaborative and enriching office environment
Mentor junior staff
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Sciences, Urban Planning, Architecture or related field
Outstanding professional communication and management skills, highlighting a track-record of leading and coordinating activities of multiple staff in complex team environments
10+ years of experience managing and leading teams in the delivery of high quality environmental and planning projects
A core understanding of the role of environmental principles and practices in the broader development and delivery of multi-disciplinary projects within a variety of market sectors, particularly major urban transportation and infrastructure projects
Experience coordinating with federal, state, and local agencies
A positive attitude and a proven ability to exude calm under pressure
Interest in mentoring and managing junior staff
Ability to travel out of the immediate area and to work outside of regular work hours if needed
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Scheduling software (Microsoft Project and/or P6)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in City Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Public Policy or related field
Experience working with public agencies in the greater Orange County/Inland Empire/Los Angeles/San Diego regions
Experience working with the Federal Transit Administration
Affiliation with national professional organizations such as AEP, APA, WTS or similar
