Extension Program Associate - Coastal Research & Extension Center

Biloxi MS

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with a collaborative team on a grant funded program to develop a wetland plant nursery program at coastal Mississippi high schools. Major duties and responsibilities will include establishing wetland nurseries in greenhouses and nearby outdoor spaces at three coastal Mississippi high schools and developing curriculum and research projects for high schools. These activities will require purchasing and installing greenhouse/nursery supplies, routinely checking greenhouses/nurseries to ensure they are still operational, purchasing education supplies, coordinating a collaborative team, in-classroom and public presentations, leading field trips, leading student research projects, writing extension and journal publications, developing curriculum, and other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma and two years of related experience directly to the duties and responsibilities.


Preferred Qualifications:

Extension, outreach, coastal wetland, coastal conservation and restoration, and estuarine research experience.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge and skills using Microsoft Office.


Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.

2. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
