Outdoor Educator

Fahnestock Memorial State Park “The Four Season Park”



  • 2 years of college in Life Sciences, Environmental Studies, Education, Nature Interpretation, or related field.
  • Comfortable working with a wide range of age groups from elementary to adult.
  • Teaching experience with elementary children in either a formal or informal setting.
  • Ropes course experience desired.
  • First Aid Training desirable



Design and instruct small group environmental activities geared to the ability levels of elementary children Outdoor Educators will work with other education staff members to provide educational and recreational programs to schools, civic and public groups. Educators will be responsible for working independently with their own group of students in providing environmental education and team building programs. Educators will also provide high and low ropes programs on our courses.  In addition, the member will be assisting with daily operations of the facility and delivery of program goals.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working with the public in various settings; Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lead groups on hiking trails through forested areas with varying degrees of  terrain.

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a background check


Required Academic and Experience Qualifications:
BS in Life/Earth Science, Outdoor Education, Environmental Studies, Nature Interpretation or related field.  Previous formal or informal teaching experience is desirable. Low and high ropes course operation experience a plus.



$490.00-$540.00 per-week plus room & board, medical benefits available, and Civil Service Employees Association union benefits.
