Westmoreland Sanctuary is seeking an Outdoor Environmental Educator.
40 hours/week, pay is commensurate with experience, medical and dental benefits, housing and costs associated with housing are provided. Teachers work every other weekend.
This is a entry level position with the ability to advance. The environmental education position will work with our schools, camps, out-reach, after-school, birthday parties, and public programming and will assist in maintaining the preserve. There is a variety of responsibilities beyond teaching allowing the employee to acquire well-rounded career of of teaching, leadership skills, grant administration, marketing, animal care, and more.
The candidate must be flexible, articulate, and a motivated, outdoor learner. Enthusiasm for the natural world and sharing it is a must. The candidate must be comfortable in a highly physical job. The candidate must have strong writing skills.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable teaching a wide variety of ages from pre-school aged children through adults in an outdoor setting. Environmental science, biology or other background in the sciences is helpful. General knowledge pertaining to other environmental education topics, such as sustainability, environmentalism, STEM-based learning would be helpful. Prior experience working outside, hiking, conservation, and or gardening helpful.
Minimum B.A./B.S. in environmental science, biology, education, or related feild.
