IslandWood's foundational graduate program in Education for Environment & Community, offered in partnership with the University of Washington's nationally-ranked College of Education is a 10-month teaching residency preparing culturally-responsive educators capable of catalyzing community and environmental stewardship.
Through coursework in environmental education and inclusive instruction, regular field-teaching experiences, and one-on-one mentoring, students will:
- Learn best practices in integrated, experiential, and student-centered learning
- Develop culturally responive teaching and curriculum development skills
- Deepen an understanding of the systems and theories behind educational practices
We are now accepting applications for the 2021-2022 academic year, which runs from August 17, 2021 to June 11, 2022. Financial aid including scholarships, service awards, and a monthly stipend are available.
