Sr. Environmental Specialist

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This position manages site activities to ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations for all assigned facilities. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring adherence to Amtrak’s Environment and Sustainability Management System (ESMS) policies, programs and procedures at these facilities. Depending on region, may cover maintenance facilities, rail yards, stations and other facilities. Estimated travel 30 – 40%.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Coordinates permit compliance for all facility environmental permits including, but not limited to: coordinating/conducting inspections and sampling; analyzing data, reviewing plan updates and revisions, preparing reports, and maintaining communications with regulatory agencies
Coordinates and conducts training for facility personnel on all applicable environmental regulatory and awareness programs
Assists with coordination of internal environmental audits, attends all such audits, coordinates development of the follow up Corrective Action Plan (CAP) and ensures CAP activities are completed
Coordinates environmental response activities (spills, etc.)
Works with facility management and corporate Environment and Sustainability Group to implement facility environment and sustainability programs, such as recycling and energy efficiency projects
Works with corporate Environment and Sustainability personnel to annually update the Facility Environmental Manual (FEM) and compliance calendar
Coordinates with corporate Environment and Sustainability personnel on communication and periodic reporting to external agencies
Manages contractors or consultants who perform work on site
Facilitates communications and exchange of information between facility personnel and the corporate Environment and Sustainability Group.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental or related sciences, engineering or management, or equivalent combination of undergraduate education, training and work experience.
Three (3) years work experience including environmental compliance procedures and delivering training.
Working knowledge of environmental Federal, state, and local regulations.
Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Director of Government Relations

A fast-growing conservation organization, the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP), seeks to hire a government relations professional to join its advocacy team as the Director of Government Relations. In this position, you will be responsible for lobbying in support of a wide range of natural resource policy issues. This is not an entry level position and prior experience working on Capitol Hill or advocating before Congress is required.

The Director will be responsible for developing and participating in campaigns to support the TRCP’s legislative agenda, lobbying Congress and the Administration on conservation priorities and funding, and working in diverse issue-oriented coalitions.

The Director will report to the Chief Policy Officer, coordinate regularly with TRCP’s policy center directors and field staff, as well as partner organizations, and supervise the work of interns, fellows, and associates as appropriate. This position is based out of the TRCP’s Washington, D.C. office; candidates must be able to work in the office at least three days per week and may be required to travel two to three weeks total per year. Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s (LBNL) Energy Analysis Environmental Impacts Division has an opening for a Policy Researcher to join the Energy Efficiency Standards Department (EES) team.

The Energy Efficiency Standards Department identifies the feasibility and cost of increased energy efficiency requirements for different appliances, commercial and industrial equipment, and lighting applications. EES conducts specific market, technical, and economic analyses for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Appliance Standards Program, such as life-cycle cost analyses, national impact assessments, environmental impact assessments, and non-regulatory policy impact analysis to support standards rulemaking.

Summary

A corporate-wide position involving professional technical skill and judgment in the integration of science, legal requirements, operational activities and environmental policy. The Program Manager, Environmental Policy is responsible for analysis, design, implementation and management of existing and new environmental programs, regulations and legislation to provide environmental support and strategy for business units in a proactive, cost-effective manner consistent with NiSource policy and business objectives. Green for All Policy Director

Program Overview

Green For All fights for a world that is green for all, not green for some. We work at the intersection of environmental, economic, and racial justice movements to advance solutions to poverty and pollution.

Purpose:

Green For All seeks an experienced, mission-driven leader to serve as its Policy Director. The Policy Director will lead the execution of Green For All’s federal policy agenda, particularly legislation that advances common ground climate policies that unite Republicans and Democrats behind equitable climate and clean energy solutions. The Policy Director will provide policy research, analysis, legislative advocacy and coalition building leadership for Dream.Org’s Green For All team, and collaborate with Dream.Org’s Government Affairs division.

Green For All works to increase funding and dedicated investments for climate equity solutions in disadvantaged communities, prioritizing good, green jobs in programs related to infrastructure, transportation, and energy investments, expanding opportunities for Black and Brown clean energy and cleantech entrepreneurs, and strengthening funding flow via green banks. The Policy Associate will work with a diverse range of people and contribute to outreach to a wide audience, including members of Congress and their staff, federal officials, business and industry leaders, other nonâ€governmental organizations, higher education institutions, embassies, and other constituencies.

The Policy Associate will report to the Executive Director and work closely with colleagues (including fellows and interns) across the entire organization.

In general, the Policy Associate will help advance EESI’s efforts to:

Draft and edit content for publication, including web articles, fact sheets, and other policyâ€oriented written materials, with a near-term (i.e., up to 18 months) focus on the Farm Bill and implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act.
Share topic and speaker ideas and help plan and execute EESI-convened Congressional briefings. EESI convenes multiple Congressional briefings each year on relevant and timely environmental, clean energy, climate and adaptation, and resilience topics.
Help respond to queries for information and analysis from Congressional committees and members of Congress and their staff.
Assist in the preparation of materials for staff testimony and presentations.
Perform background research to inform grant proposal narratives and help prepare reports to funders.
Build and grow EESI’s overall environment, clean energy, and climate policy and solutions knowledge and expertise by keeping abreast of news, relevant science and Congressional action.
Contribute to a collaborative, collegial, and supportive work environment.

Competitive candidates will have the following qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study and at least one year of full-time professional work experience.
Internship or work experience in a U.S. Senate or U.S. House of Representatives office (including committees) is preferred.
Undergraduateâ€ or graduateâ€level coursework in political science, American politics, or comparative politics, preferred.
Strong writing and research skills; clear and concise writing is required for newsletters, Congressional briefing writeâ€ups, and fact sheets.
Critical thinking, problemâ€solving, and research and analysis skills; keen attention to detail.
Knowledge and understanding of environment, clean energy, and climate topics.
Strong networking and interpersonal skills; a sense of humor, positive attitude, and interest in working collaboratively with other committed professionals.
Ability to represent EESI professionally.

Starting salary from $52,000.
