Prepare informational packets on trip itineraries and logistics for attendees
Ensure that related follow-up activities, including processing expense vouchers, sending thank-you letters and submitting invoices to counties are conducted

Government Relations Director

The Wilderness Society (TWS) is seeking two highly skilled and experienced Government Relations professionals in Washington, DC, to lead our engagement with Congress and the administration on our core issue portfolios: climate and energy, equitable access to nature and land conservation. A successful candidate for these positions will be an experienced strategist and skilled manager who brings political savvy and creative thinking to achieving legislative and administrative policy and program goals.

These Director-level positions will lead strategy development and implementation of our government relations activities on renewable energy deployment on public lands, oil and gas development and leasing, protecting 30% of public lands and waters by 2030 and equitable access to nature. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in or liaising with Congress or executive branch on one or more of these issues.

These highly collaborative positions will report to the Senior Director of Government Relations and work an integrated way with staff from across the organization in our field and functional offices. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Develop and lead the execution of government relations strategies – with Congress and the Administration – to educate and lobby Members of Congress, congressional staff and agency officials on key policies addressing renewable energy deployment, oil and gas phase down on public lands, equitable access to nature, and land conservation.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with congressional and Administration staff in a way that is integrated and aligned with the organization inside and outside the Beltway, and empower junior staff to do the same.
Help ensure that our federal policy work is advancing racial justice and equity, including through partnerships and coalitions, and through engagement with leaders of color in Congress.
Supervise government relations staff working within landscape, issue and policy campaign teams to design smart political strategies and well-coordinated implementation plans to achieve programmatic goals in a highly dynamic national political environment.
Support and build TWS’ national partnerships with a focus on more inclusive and diverse coalitions that center the voices of impacted communities and work collaboratively to develop and advance just and equitable policy solutions.
Analyze legislation and other formal policies in support of TWS’ priorities.
Develop fact sheets, talking points and other outreach and advocacy materials; represent TWS with the media where appropriate; and partner with policy, legal and communications staff as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience and Competencies

Minimum 7 years of demonstrated experience working on public policy issues at the federal level, which could include working in a legislative office, in the executive branch, or at an advocacy or political organization.
Deep knowledge of one or more of our priority policy areas: responsible renewable energy deployment, oil and gas phase down on public lands, equitable access to nature, and protection and conservation of nature.
Understanding and commitment to advancing equity and justice in the policy-making process. Experience working with coalitions focused on environmental and/or social justice issues preferred.
Proven track record working collaboratively within and providing leadership to inclusive coalitions and engaging a broad set of partners across lines of difference including race, ethnicity, socioeconomic class, and interests.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and analyze legislation and/or other policy solutions.

Climate and Environmental Policy Team Lead

What will you be doing?

· Supporting TFT’s legislative efforts at the federal level and across multiple western states, including providing legislative policy and bill drafting support, legislator/agency personnel briefing support, bill-tracking, schedule coordination and follow-up support.

What is your background and skillset?

· Bachelor’s degree required, with focus and/or professional experience in a water-related field.

Arizona Policy Director

Reporting to the Policy Director and working in close coordination with the Western Water and National Policy Team, the Arizona Policy Manager is charged with building political power and executing National Audubon Society priorities, while effectively leveraging and building upon the organization’s grassroots and grasstops assets and relationships. As part of the state office, the Policy Manager will spearhead the planning, integration, and coordination of policy communications, outreach, event planning, and research needs. The Policy Manager would provide expertise and capacity for the development of educational, outreach, and communications materials to deploy to raise awareness of the importance of water and climate resilience with decision-makers and influencers in the state of Arizona. The Policy Manager will work with a multidisciplinary team to plan, implement, and achieve Audubon’s policy goals. The Manager will provide critical capacity to the Policy Director and help expand and develop productive relationships with key state-elected and agency officials and leaders, as well as the Arizona congressional delegation and federal agencies critical to Audubon priorities.

Essential Functions

In consultation with key leaders, design and manage aspects of priority water policy work for the Water for Arizona Coalition, including setting goals, strategy, targets, tactics, establishing messaging and media needs, work plans and timelines.
Support the Policy Director’s engagement in state and federal level policy work as the spokesperson and state leader.
Work closely with the Water for Arizona Coalition leadership to grow the power of rural Arizona leaders, demanding change for groundwater management.
Identify potential research projects that could support policy work, and work with GIS specialists to implement Story Maps and other forms of science communication.
Help integrate and coordinate campaign work across programmatic departments.
Identify grant opportunities and projects that align with partners as well as Audubon’s water and climate resilience goals. And, when appropriate, applying for those grants.

Track and monitor policy outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, water policy, natural resources or related field required.
5 years of related professional experience in water conservation, campaigns, grassroots advocacy, policy, public service or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
Established background in water policy and other climate-related issues highly desired.
Demonstrated management experience of programs, program effectiveness, people, and budgets. Experience running programs at the local, state, and/or federal level.
Exceptional leadership skills with the proven ability to oversee and mentor professional staff while working effectively in a team-based environment.

Associate General Counsel

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) is a state economic development agency dedicated to accelerating the growth of the clean energy sector across the Commonwealth to spur job creation, deliver statewide environmental benefits and to secure long-term economic growth for the people of Massachusetts. MassCEC works to increase the adoption of clean energy while driving down costs and delivering financial, environmental, and economic development benefits to energy users and utility customers across the state.

The Associate General Counsel is a key member of MassCEC’s Legal Team within the Corporate Department. In this role, the Associate General Counsel will report to the Senior Associate General Counsel. The Associate General Counsel is responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating both contracts and corporate transactions, and the ideal candidate will be able to draw upon corporate experience. Most importantly, the successful candidate will be comfortable making recommendations to senior management regarding proposed courses of action.

Job Duties

The Associate General Counsel will be required to assist the legal department with a full range of legal matters including, but not limited to:

Drafting and reviewing service and vendor contracts, as well as grants, loans and equity investment agreements entered into by MassCEC;

Director, Policy & Government Affairs

The Director, Policy & Government Affairs will lead PowerFlex’s public policy efforts related to EV charging, solar, energy storage, and grid services in the U.S. and Canada. The Director will advocate on behalf of PowerFlex to influence rate tariff design, incentive programs, and legislation to put PowerFlex in a position to grow its business by shaping the policy to match PowerFlex’s competitive advantages and better serve its customers. The Director will create relationships with key decision makers at regulatory agencies and relevant Federal, State, and local government offices and travel to industry trade group meetings and in-person meetings as appropriate to maximize the impact of their advocacy. The Director will also help lead corporate communications efforts related to key state and federal policies.

The Director will identify and prioritize policy efforts where their team’s influence and participation can have the most impact, put in place SMART goals for the team, quantify the impact of their efforts, share information with PowerFlex staff, and advise senior leadership by identifying new business opportunities for PowerFlex based on changing regulatory and incentive environments.

Responsibilities

External Advocacy (50%)

Advocate for PowerFlex in state legislatures, energy commissions, public utility commissions, and ISOs
Engage with Federal, State, and local government offices and officials to create legislation and/or policies

Qualifications

Education/Experience-

Bachelor’s degree in public policy, business, law, economics, communications/media, environment, and/or energy technologies, with advanced graduate degree a bonus
Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience, including energy policy, government affairs, political organizing, and/or business development in EV charging or renewable energy infrastructure
Understanding of commercial & industrial on-site renewable energy projects, electricity rate tariffs, wholesale market participation, and current regulatory environment in key U.S. states and Canadian provinces
At least 5 years direct renewable energy or electric vehicle charging industry experience

Coastal Policy Coordinator

This position serves as the Coastal Policy Coordinator within the Center of Policy, Planning and Communication of MD DNR’s Chesapeake and Coastal Service Unit. The person in this position will implement the Maryland federal consistency program. They will interpret and apply the policies, regulations, and standards of the Maryland Coastal Zone Management Program to activities, policies, and programs of federal authority that affect the Maryland Coastal Zone.

Job duties include:

Receiving, tracking and reviewing project documents and environmental assessments from federal agencies by applying the federal consistency review process. Ensuring federal activities (permits, funding and projects) affecting Maryland’s Coastal Zone are consistent with the Maryland Coastal Program’s enforceable policies.
Providing advice and technical assistance to applicants, federal and state agencies. Interpreting rules, regulations, laws, and procedures by phone, in person, and in writing as appropriate.
Preparing and submitting for approval routine program changes for new policies, regulations and legislation related to coastal and ocean activities. Identifying and tracking key or emerging issues of concern to the Coastal Program and developing initiatives to address these concerns.
Developing, as needed, formal agreements and processes with federal agencies to clarify and strengthen federal consistency to support environmental outcomes.

This person will support creation, maintenance, and execution of U.S. federal Government Affairs and Business Sustainability strategy.

Sustainability Accountabilities

Fully integrate with Sustainable & Responsible Business team and Sustainable Solutions programs.

Support development of a sustainability strategy for the U.S. business aligned to key focus areas (Climate, Regenerative Agriculture, Biodiversity, Rural Prosperity, and Water) and global sustainability strategy.

Assist SRB team with data collection, Including metrics, KPIs and other sustainability measurement tools.

Support and develop, where appropriate, SRB Team and Syngenta relationships with agricultural value chain companies, their suppliers, growers, and other stakeholders to assist in advancement of on farm sustainable solution initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree required

3 to 7 years of relevant work experience in the agricultural sector or in the Federal legislative arena.

Ability to collaborate with senior leaders and other senior executives

Ability to learn and work independently and proactively

Strong writing and communications skills

Strong knowledge of agricultural industry stewardship and sustainability issues and challenges

Capitol Hill or Executive branch experience highly preferred

Policy Program Director

Wetlands Watch is seeking a full-time Policy Program Director to help promote nature-driven climate adaptation strategies statewide and beyond. We seek an experienced and creative policy professional to work on a range of issues associated with developing, influencing, and implementing policy responses to the impacts of climate change, specifically sea level rise, recurrent flooding, and increased rainfall intensity. Wetlands Watch participates in climate change planning and policy at all levels of government, working locally on land use and regulatory decisions, state-wide on shoreline regulations and resilience plans, and nationally on “localizingâ€ federal programs. Wetlands Watch’s policy work is critical to accomplish our mission of conserving nature in a changing climate. This position will support Wetlands Watch’s role as a leader in Virginia, working through existing partnerships convened by the Virginia Conservation Network and others.
compensation

Position has compensation in the range of $50,000-$70,000/year, expenses reimbursed, with health insurance and retirement support, & paid federal holidays

Two-weeks paid vacation

Mileage, travel, supplies, & normal office expenses in performance with job responsibilities will be reimbursed by Wetlands Watch with appropriate documentation. Mileage reimbursement will be at current GSA rates. Cell phone costs will be partially compensated

Computer & IT needs (software, etc.) will be provided as needed & justified
