EHS InternSt. Pauls, NC
Watts is looking for an innovative Environmental, Health, & Safety Intern that will lead job hazard analysis and ergonomic assessments along with preparation of machine specific lockout/tagout placards at our site in St. Pauls, North Carolina.
This role will work under the direction of our Sr. EHS Engineer based in St. Pauls, NC and partner closely with the operating supervisors to reduce injury risk. In addition, this role will scope one sustainability project to reduce electricity use in the St. Pauls facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the Sr. Environmental, Health, and Safety Engineer:
- Assist in developing safety programs and policies based on new and existing regulation as well as sound safety methodology.
Participates in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of new programs and policies
Develop/maintain and deliver necessary safety training for St. Pauls, NC operations (powered industrial vehicle, new hire orientation, respiratory protection, etc.)
Assist in leading, managing, and monitoring safety committees to perform audits/reports of safety hazards/risks that exist and
Respond to safety related issues and concerns raised by employees or management and assists in problem solving to reduce/manage risk
Collaborate with the maintenance department to develop machine specific lockout/tagout placards
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, environmental, science, or another relevant degree.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S., and not require sponsorship now or in the future
At least 1 year of relevant work or internship experience.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other computing skills.
Strong analytical, data management and communication (interpersonal and digital) skills.
Ability to efficiently and independently perform various tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent team player.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include; close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
