The Environmental Coordinator serves as the primary liaison for environmental regulatory requirements and works closely with operations, maintenance, production, and external agencies to maintain compliance and support continuous environmental improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental permits, including Title V Air Permit requirements.
  • Monitor environmental performance and identify potential compliance deviations.
  • Coordinate corrective actions and maintain documentation for environmental compliance issues.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports to regulatory agencies, including CDPHE, EPA, and local authorities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field preferred.

Field Biologist

Lead Field Instructor

Description:

Renowned for its accredited research-based undergraduate field programs, Wildlands Studies seeks candidates holding an MSc or PhD to be the Lead Instructor for new academic field programs. Students consistently report that their Wildlands Studies experience added depth and meaning to their on-campus classes and “changed their lives”. Wildlands Studies instructors enhance their own credentials with unique opportunities to teach in the field while engaging students in active research.

The Lead Instructor will direct students on an academically rigorous, wilderness-based six-week field study to explore habitats and cultures of specific USA-based and international locales. We are specifically seeking new international locations that will attract students and cover a wide variety of topics and terrain within our mission. We specifically welcome proposals for new locales in the Pacific Realm (Fiji, Tonga); Southeast Asia including India; Europe, specifically Portugal and the Azores, Croatia, Norway or other Arctic Mountain regions; and South America particularly Brazil and Uruguay. Students earn 5-15 quarter credits for three field classes covering Environmental Studies, Field Research Practices, and Environment and Culture. Lead Instructor is responsible for on-going seminars, lectures, instruction, guided field work and field methods, and assessment of all student work, as well as group dynamics and the overall well-being of participants. Requirements:

Knowledge and experience of field study location required. Applicants must have Masters degree in hand; PhD Candidates and/or completed PhD preferred. A qualified Lead Instructor will have experience leading field study programs and teaching at the undergraduate level, specifically upper division environmental studies classes; a good sense of humor, flexibility, patience, and understanding; be a physically fit experienced outdoorsperson capable of leading students on day hikes and multi-day overnight backpacking trips; a capable and skilled group facilitator able to spend 24 hours per day, 7 days per week with up to 16 students aged 18-23 for the duration of the program managing associated interpersonal dynamics; an accomplished logistical planner capable of managing the overarching and day-to-day logistics, program finances and communications; certified in First Aid and CPR (preferably WFR) and able to competently and confidently manage medical emergencies and other medical situations should they arise. We require our program staff to be able to easily transport students in vehicles. Individuals must have a clean driving record, manual transmission experience, knowledge and competence driving in international locations and, if needed, the ability to drive a right-hand drive vehicle on the left side of the road. Environmental Analyst – Source Water Protection

NEIWPCC is seeking a full-time Environmental Analyst to assist with the implementation of source water protection measures for public water systems throughout New York State.

What You’ll Do
As a NEIWPCC Environmental Analyst, you will work alongside internal and external partners to implement the Drinking Water Source Protection Program (DWSP2). You will:

Facilitate collaboration and communication to further develop the program.
Manage contracts with technical assistance providers and monitor progress of workplans, identifying potential issues and collaborating on solutions.
Review and provide detailed feedback on draft plans, deliverables, and final reports.
Collect, compile, organize and analyze environmental data (using GIS and R programing) to inform program reporting and implementation.
Prepare summary reports and technical documents for stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a passion and interest in preserving and advancing water quality. Our ideal candidate will have:

A bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, geology, hydrology, biology, natural resources planning, or a related field, and at least three years of related experience.
Knowledge and experience with aspects of water quality and watershed management.
Familiarity with O365 suite, Canva, GIS, relational databases, program languages (e.g., R, python), and form building tools, and ability to manage and evaluate large data sets.
Ability to work effectively with scientists, engineers, managers, the public, and the regulated community.

Logistics
This full-time NEIWPCC position will work 7.5 hours per day and is based in the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation office located in Albany, NY. Duties will be performed largely in an office setting with the potential for field work and occasional travel, for which a valid driver’s license and private means of transportation are required. After six months of employment, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule for in-office duties, subject to approval and program needs.

Salary Range: $65,000 to $75,000

Manager, Research

Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary (including the Blair Audubon Center) is one of the National Audubon Society’s premiere centers. Operating as part of the state program in Florida, the Sanctuary unites visitor and education experiences with science-based conservation to understand, protect and restore habitats on its 13,000 acres and its regional and connected watershed and public lands corridors.

The Research Manager will report to the Director of Conservation and lead research and ecological monitoring activities associated with the sanctuary’s Western Everglades Research Center. This will involve working with the Director of Conservation to identify and prioritize projects that fill data gaps and support science-based land stewardship and conservation activities, collecting and analyzing data, translating research findings for a variety of technical and non-technical audiences, coordinating an active visiting research program, and collaborating with conservation professionals across the region to advance science and inform conservation and restoration initiatives. This full-time 40-hour per week position is classified as on-site based at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Naples, FL.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field required (M.S. preferred) and at least 5 years relevant experience.

Expertise in fish and wildlife monitoring techniques is required. Knowledge of South Florida ecosystems is preferred.

Strong quantitative and research skills (specific disciplines could include wetland ecology, fish ecology, aquatic invertebrate ecology, wading bird ecology, or restoration ecology) and a demonstrated ability to follow a research project through from design to data collection to publication, are required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, GoogleEarth, and ArcGIS is required. Proficiency in GIS applications (e.g., Field Maps, Survey123) and/or R is highly desired.

A record of publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals, a demonstrated ability to translate research findings into management recommendations, and expertise communicating those findings coherently to a broad set of partners and constituencies is required.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to supervise, mentor and motivate staff in a remote field station setting is required. Experience fostering inclusive and collaborative work environments is valued.

Demonstrated history of and/or potential for attracting grant or private funding and experience managing budgets, facilities, and personnel is highly desired.

Assistant Division Manager, Environmental Services

The City of Tacoma is recruiting for the appointive position of Assistant Division Manager in the Science Division of the Environmental Services Department.

This specific Assistant Division Manager (ADM) position oversees the Environmental Compliance section, including the Inspections Group (focused on stormwater asset, wastewater asset, and business source-control inspections) and the Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment Group. These efforts support City compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit requirements for stormwater and wastewater as well as state and local regulations.

MINIMUM EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business, or public administration or directly related field

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
Six (6) years of experience in one or more fields in the Environmental Services department, including 1 year prior as a senior and/or supervisory level.

Conservation Restoration Coordinator

Located along the Space Coast in Melbourne, Florida, East Coast Zoological Foundation (ECZF) is best known for its flagship campus, Brevard Zoo, an AZA-accredited facility with a diverse collection of over 900 animals representing nearly 200 species. ECZF is also known for its large portfolio of conservation projects, including endangered species breeding, imperiled species rehabilitation, wide-scale habitat restoration and monitoring of threatened species.

Conservation Restoration Coordinators are responsible for coordinating ECZF’s Restore Our Shores (ROS) Indian River Lagoon habitat restoration projects (oyster, clam, seagrass, native plant, etc.) including project site evaluation, volunteer recruitment and training, project installation, resource maintenance, monitoring, reporting, community outreach and other duties as assigned. Specific roles are dependent on yearly restoration project goals.
