The Department of Earth, Environment, and Society (EES) in the College of Arts and Sciences, University of Saint Thomas, Minnesota, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in environmental science, environmental studies, or related field beginning Fall 2024. We seek a colleague to pursue excellent and inclusive teaching, engage students in high-quality research, and take a leadership role as department chair. The Department of EES is newly-coalesced with faculty from multiple environmental fields to synergize and expand the reach and impact of these shared disciplines. This department will be housed in the Schoenecker Center (opening January, 2024), the university’s new central home for STEAM education at St. Thomas. We seek candidates with enthusiasm for collaboration and a penchant for (and/or experience in) administration to provide leadership to advance our vision in addressing pressing environmental problems and their varied impacts within and across communities, nations, and the world.

As environmental fields are increasingly interdisciplinary, we seek candidates who can teach across the programmatic boundaries within EES to contribute to the multiple degrees offered in the department, including the BS in Environmental Science, BA in Environmental Studies, BA and BS in Geology, BA in Geography, BA in Geographic Information Systems, and a minor in Sustainability (more information found on the EES Website). In addition, we welcome applications from scholars with interest in teaching courses to fulfill our core curriculum’s requirements in Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice and/or Global Perspectives. The standard teaching load is three courses per semester with course release time available for administrative responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have Ph.D. (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in environmental science, environmental studies, geography, geology, conservation science, ecosystem science, or in a closely related field.
Alternatively, ABDs nearing completion of the Ph.D. will be considered, with the initial appointment to be made at the rank of Instructor.

Essential job duties include:

AECOM is seeking a self-motivated experienced Hydrogeologist or Geologist for our Orange and Long Beach offices. In this important position, the successful candidate will support Project Managers in the planning, oversight of fieldwork, and evaluation of hydrogeologic and reporting phases for a wide range of multidisciplinary environmental projects in Southern California. Assistant Professor

The Department of Chemistry, Biology and Environmental Science (BCES) at Northern New Mexico College invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
Northern New Mexico College (NNMC) is a public two-year and four-year degree granting institution founded in 1909 by the New Mexico Constitution. NNMC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. NNMC operates from two campuses in Española and El Rito and serves an average of 1,000 students per semester. Groundwater Facilities Manager

Job Summary

Incumbents in this position are responsible for managing the treatment and operation of either Cape Fear Public Utility Authority’s Surface Water Treatment Facilities or Groundwater Treatment Facilities. Incumbents may serve as the Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) for the various treatment facilities within assigned location.
Essential Job Functions

Develops plans and programming, formulates budgetary data, assigns job duties, conducts employee evaluations, prepares contractual obligations, develops educational safety curriculum, and reports parameters as they relate to the overall operations of their assigned facilities.
Reviews plans, attends meetings, and provides essential support to assist Planning & Design division and other departments.
Management of Treatment Facilities to ensure safe drinking water treatment and adherence to Federal and State requirement.
Oversees the management and timely implementation and completion of various projects to include Plant Operations, Pilot Studies, New Infrastructure Construction, equipment upgrades and any site repairs.
Works with internal and external equipment repair and management groups to ensure the repair, maintenance, and procurement of equipment.
Develops and implements SOP?s related to the operation of water treatment facilities in their charge.
Oversees and coordinates operational preparations and response to weather related or other emergency events at water treatment facilities.
Oversees training of personnel in the operation and maintenance of water treatment systems.
Works directly with NC Public Water Supply regulators to maintain water quality and ensure compliance with State and EPA rules and regulations.
Data management includes state required reporting, monitored location analysis, and all Centralized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) related work order approval and/or entry.
Conducts audits of equipment maintenance and verifies entry of new/replacement assets in Maximo.
Coordinates with various departments within CFPUA, external vendors, and State/Federal regulators to ensure projects are being completed that maintain peak operations efficiency.
Participates in CIP projects, research, and/or pilot testing for the repair or replacement of various facilities and equipment.
Monitors the division’s supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system along with other instrumentation for accurate collection of data.
Tracking of critical metrics within assigned section by incumbents include but are not limited to: Activated Carbon Facility PFAS removal efficiency, Groundwater Aquifer management, and Raw Water utilization projections.
Collaborate with IT, Centralized Maintenance, and external service provider to troubleshoot, maintain and modify SCADA hardware and software as required to maximize uptime, accuracy, and efficiency of the system.
Supports division supervisors and provides recommendations for scheduling, on call work, etc. to support staff, avoid employee burnout, and meet division objectives.
Manages budget within assigned location and oversees/approves the requisition of equipment and supplies for assigned section.
Manages projects and initiatives for the Water Treatment Division when assigned.
Makes recommendations that impact the budget.
The Surface Water Facilities Manager primarily performs duties of the Water Resources Manager in his or her absence. Both Ground and Surface Water Treatment Facilities Mangers may perform assigned duties of the other in his or her absence.

We are looking for an engineer (EIT or PE) who has experience managing site investigation and remedial efforts for facilities under Georgia Environmental Protection on Division (EPD) regulatory programs (USTMP, Brownfield, VRP, etc.). Experience in UST remediation system design and implementation on preferred. Experience managing/working on the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Brownfield grant projects preferred.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or related degree.

Director, Environmental Science

The Director, Environmental Science serves as the academic administrator and lead entrepreneur responsible for the assigned program. Under the guidance and direction of the Dean, this position performs in alignment with the College’s mission and strategic direction in service to students and their success.

Program-Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for management of Hocking College’s environmental science academic program as well as the live learning consulting service of environmental bioremediation.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
Conducts regular review of all aspects of the program in collaboration with the program’s Advisory Board for continuous quality improvement.
Conducts regular review of the program to maximize accreditation opportunities.
Responsible for ensuring course fees support the sustainability of the program.
Responsible for cultivation of leads, recruitment and enrollment of students in the program.
Provide effective day-to-day management and administration of the program.
Supervise all faculty and coordinate adjunct assignments including evaluations.

TEACHING AND ADVISING

MANAGES LEARNING LABORATORIES AND ENTREPRENEURIAL VENTURES:
Responsible for identifying contaminated sites in need of remediation that are good candidates for our program’s approach.
Responsible for identifying and securing grant funds or private contracts to provide for the costs associated with remediation services and to generate revenue for the program.
Manages purchasing, budgeting, staff, and programming at relevant facilities and field operations.
Promotes and publicizes programs and opportunities to include the general public. This includes Leisure Learning programs.
Coordinates with faculty and staff within the college regarding use of the facilities.
Ensures entrepreneurial ventures are integrated in teaching in academic classes, practicum experiences and management of facilities.
Seeks partnership in support for facility maintenance and restoration, including grants and college self-performance on projects.

Qualifications – Education, Experience, and Skills
Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Microbiology, Biology, or a closely related field required. Graduate-level coursework must align to the teaching workload.
Degree must be from a regionally or nationally accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent as verified by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc.
Minimum of 5 years of full-time, professional, field and/or lab experience within Environmental Science.

Wetland Scientist

Fishbeck is seeking a Wetland Scientist to provide ecological consulting services in support of environmental and civil engineering projects. Responsibilities include wetland delineation, permitting, and mitigation; vegetation monitoring and characterization; threatened and endangered species evaluations; tree surveys; and report preparation. This position requires occasional travel with a mix of field and office responsibilities.

Primary Functions

Conduct wetland delineations and site assessments, with respect to soil, vegetation, and hydrology characterization.
Perform threatened and endangered species evaluations and tree surveys.
Determine and fulfill permitting requirements for local, state, and federal agencies.
Read and interpret historical maps, GPS data, and aerial photographs.

Minimum Physical Requirements

Will also have normal office working conditions and be required to sit and use a computer. Must be able to drive vehicle to project sites. Visual acuity and physical strength and endurance necessary to perform responsibilities.

Desired Education/Licensure
Bachelor of Science in botany, wetland ecology, soil science, natural resource management, or related field. Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) or Wetland Professional in Training (WPIT) certification a plus.

Desired Skills/Experience

3+ years’ experience working in wetland delineation, botany, or similar environmental consulting field.
