PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Responsible for providing independent technical, regulatory, program support, and expertise on Constellation Nuclear Environmental compliance issues and projects in all relevant environmental areas. Serve as the program owner and administrator working with functional areas for assigned programs that directly affect the compliance status of the facility (e.g., Air Permits, DOT shipment of hazardous wastes, NPDES permits, hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste regulations, storage tanks, drinking water, SPCC, SARA/EPRA, ISO 14001/EMS, OSHA chemical safety, hazmat). Supports the Reg Assurance Manager, participates in the stewardship committee and actively advocates for environmental programs. Attends and presents at leadership meetings. Develops relationships with stakeholders and is recognized by peers in at least one program area as a subject matter expert. Works to develop expertise in additional program areas, as appropriate. Develops and provides environmental training to station personnel as needed. With the assistance of others, interacts with regulatory officials providing tours and obtains approvals, permits, certifications, and licenses relating to Environmental projects, pollution control systems, or waste management activities.

Environmental Engineer Specialist 2

We have an immediate opening for an Environmental Engineer Specialist 2 (Solid Waste Unit) in our Waste Programs Division. In this role, you will research, plan, or perform engineering duties in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental hazards using various engineering disciplines. Work may include landfill permitting, waste treatment, site remediation, pollution control technology, the investigation of complex environmental problems, and interacting with customers from a technical perspective.

Job Duties:
Performs or leads projects under direction of a unit lead or manager.
Reviews technical documents for permits and adherence to solid waste rules and regulations.
Respond to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Post Doctoral Researcher

Tennessee State University Agriculture and Environmental Research invites applications for the position of Post Doctoral Researcher.

A post-doctoral researcher position is available for a project on the effects of soil-borne disease management strategies on microbial communities and soil-borne diseases. The candidate will be also characterizing biotic plant stress related factors and abiotic stressors influence soil-borne disease severity. The candidate will be conducting general plant disease diagnoses using microscopy, culturing, serology, PCR, qPCR and survey for plant pathogens in Tennessee nurseries.

The candidate will establish a culture collection of commonly found fungi, oomycetes and bacteria on woody ornamentals in Tennessee for conducting molecular studies to explore their movement within and among nurseries and finally improving the nursery best management practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Be able to involve in cooperative work with plant pathologists, horticulturists,
entomologists, extension agents/specialists and other disciplines.
· Be able to work independently and use a number of sampling protocols and isolation
techniques.
· Have extensive knowledge on molecular techniques commonly used to identify fungi,
oomycetes and bacteria. These include methods for metagenomic DNA extraction,
PCR, real time-PCR amplification.
· Be able to analyze sequence data, construct phylogenetic trees and genotype
populations.

Specific Abilities/Experience required:
Applicants should have a strong interest in integrated disease management, population

MLST, Real-time PCR, PCR, sequencing and genotyping are essential. The candidate must
have published in peer-reviewed journals.

Stormwater Environmental Specialist I

Stormwater Environmental Specialists  are responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive City-wide environmental programs designed to ensure compliance with stormwater and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) regulations, state and local solid waste and recycling laws. Stormwater Environmental Specialists are also responsible for conducting field inspections, issuing citations, enforcing codes, and writing reports.

  • Conducts routine inspections of commercial, residential, municipal and construction site properties for stormwater violations or as required by the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit.

Environmental Manager

Summary of Position

This position oversees the City’s water resources and environmental programs and initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. This individual leads efforts around developing and implementing water resources and environmental policies and programs, including administration of the City’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) and FEMA programs.

Expected Hours of Work
Hours are typically Monday-Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. In addition to working office hours, staff may be required to work additional events. Hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Conservation Agronomist

The Conservation Agronomist will work with ag retail, landowners, and farmers across Iowa to execute conservation and agronomy technical assistance delivery increasing active farmer participation and successful engagement in programs and projects that improve production, profitability, and natural resource outcomes.
Essential Functions

Serve as a conservation and agronomy technical specialist providing technical assistance to farmers customers/members, landowners, and ag retail for designated projects across Iowa to include:
Identification of appropriate in-field and edge-of-field agronomy and conservation practices for soil and water resource management practices and systems to address resource concerns, farmer/landowner goals, and watershed project goals
Execution of on-farm research, including collection of data and management information
Monitoring agronomic and conservation practice performance for continual improvement
Connecting farmers and landowners with financial assistance and securing necessary technical design standards for practice application
Build relationships and assist with watershed project development and coordination, serving as a technical agronomy and conservation liaison between watershed coordinators and ag retail across the state

This position requires remote work, upwards of up to 50% in the field, typically in Iowa. Occasionally travel will be outside of Iowa requiring overnight lodging. Applicants should be located in west central Iowa or near ISA headquarters in Ankeny.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or higher in agronomy, environmental sciences, agricultural engineering, biological sciences, ecology, sociology, or related field.
Minimum of three to five years of experience working in agronomy or conservation.
Strong understanding of:

cropping systems
conservation delivery systems
promotion of conservation practices
Capable of working in a team environment while working independently to achieve specific project deliverables.
Ability to work remotely and from affiliated office locations.
Understanding of computer technologies including data storage, statistical software, GIS, and monitoring equipment interfaces.

Description:

DEP seeks an Environmental Analyst IV to assist in the implementation of the Massachusetts Safe Drinking Water Program. The EA IV will perform professional environmental work, which includes statewide coordination of the Surface Water Treatment Rule (SWTR), Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (ESTWR), LT-1 and the LT-2 Rules. GWR Program Coordinator; coordinator of DPH Lead Poisoned Children and New Technology programs. Consistency support to regional staff, maintenance of water quality databases, records, and SOPs, and participation at comprehensive performance evaluation of surface water treatment plants. Participate on Several NSF committees. The EA IV will review report forms, provide professional analytical work with considerable latitude for independent and reviewing leadership ability.

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Prepares and/or reviews plans, cost estimates and specifications for major state water supply initiatives, e.g., Disinfection Byproduct Treatment, Filtration or Groundwater Disinfection.
Serve as Rule Manager and coordinate the implementation of the Surface Water Treatment Rule (SWTR), Interim Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (IESWTR), Long Term 1 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT1ESWTR), Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT2ESWTR), Filter Backwash Recycling Rule (FBRR) and the Groundwater Rule (GWR). Develop policies, regulations and guidelines as needed for assigned rules. Provide training and support to MassDEP staff and utilities on assigned rules.
DPH Lead Poisoned Children Program technical coordinator.
POU/POE back-up coordinator.
Coordinator for Fluoride Program. Contact person, provide technical support and training to PWS operators.
Reviews technical reports related to water supply technology and analysis.
Periodically assist with the Boil Order database management.
Boston’s technical reviewer for MWRA treatment issues.
Chair the Treatment Committee, coordinate discussion and resolution of all treatment and filtration issues. Provide advice to regional staff and produce meeting minutes.
Lead the implementation of the Comprehensive Performance Evaluation (CPE) Program for drinking water treatment facilities. Recommended corrective measures to optimize water treatment. Train regional staff in the effective performance of CPEs providing consistency to the program. Assist in conducting CPEs as needed.
Serve as the statewide New Technology Coordinator. Reviewing all statewide technologies permits within fee timelines and provide advice on site-specific technology approvals. Provide guidance to regional staff on existing and proposed technologies relative to technology feasibility or suggestions on review protocol. Maintain a list of MassDEP approved technologies on MassDEP’s website. Participate on ASDWA’s water treatment workgroup.
Ultraviolet Light (UV) Technology coordinator. Oversee and maintain database for site-specific technologies.
GWUDI state coordinator and contact person for Microscopic Particle Analysis (MPA). Assist regional staff in making MPA determinations for GW sources.
Member of NSF Joint Committee on Drinking Water Treatment Units. Review standards/proposals. Vote on proposals.
Participate on NSF International Steering Committee (SC) for the transition from the ETV Program to an NSF Certification program for the evaluation and testing of public drinking water equipment.
Perform other related duties as required.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must have at least (A) five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, technical or professional experience in the field of environmental science, biology, chemistry, earth science, environmental health, meteorology, natural science, toxicology or public health, of which (B) at least three years must have been in a professional capacity, and of which (C) at least one year must have been in a supervisory, managerial or administrative capacity, or (D) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the following substitutions.

Substitutions:

I. An Associate’s degree with a major in the field of environmental science, biology, chemistry, earth science, environmental health, meteorology, natural science, toxicology or public health may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*

II. A Bachelor’s degree with a major in the field of environmental science, biology, chemistry, earth science, environmental health, meteorology, natural science, toxicology or public health may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*

III. A Graduate degree with a major in environmental science, biology, chemistry, earth science, environmental health, meteorology, natural science, toxicology or public health may be substituted for a maximum of three years of the required (A) experience and one year of the required (B) experience.*

*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

NOTE: Educational substitutions will only be permitted for a maximum of one year of the required (B) experience. No substitutions will be permitted for the required (C) experience.

Senior Environmental Specialist

We are looking for an experienced professional to assume the role of Senior Environmental Specialist, leading Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments, SRP and LUST investigations, and remediation design and oversight. The ideal candidate will have 7–10 years of experience, strong technical skills, and the ability to travel for short-range fieldwork. HAZWOPER certification preferred.

Priority Responsibilities will be:

Conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
Performing Tier II and III Modeling and Evaluation.
Remediation Design.
Remediation Oversight/Monitoring
SRP Investigations and Reporting; and
UST Removals and LUST Investigations and Reporting.
