Recycling Coordinator

The Recycling Coordinator is responsible for supporting the recycling and waste reduction on campus to improve campus sustainability with the goal to be a national leader and a zero-waste campus and all on and off campus facilities. The recycling coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating Liberty University’s recycling and waste management program. Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion is essential to this position.

Education and Experience:
This position requires a high school diploma or GED. Minimum of 1+ years of experience required working with a recycling program or other comparable program experience. As well as, One year of experience as a building maintenance worker. State Driver’s license and insurable with company’s agent. Must have knowledge of DEQ waste disposal requirements. Must have basic knowledge of computer operation for use on our energy management system and our preventative maintenance and work order system (CMMS: Schooldude). Must be able to understand and follow directions, and work under limited Supervision. Must be able to work well with the public and co-workers and present a positive attitude. Proven, excellent leadership skill, initiative, and competency is required. Exceptional self-management. Desire to work with a team to accomplish goals. Urgency to grow and improve. Lead Field Instructor

Description:

Renowned for its accredited research-based undergraduate field programs, Wildlands Studies seeks candidates holding an MSc or PhD to be the Lead Instructor for new academic field programs. Students consistently report that their Wildlands Studies experience added depth and meaning to their on-campus classes and “changed their lives”. Wildlands Studies instructors enhance their own credentials with unique opportunities to teach in the field while engaging students in active research.

The Lead Instructor will direct students on an academically rigorous, wilderness-based six-week field study to explore habitats and cultures of specific USA-based and international locales. We are specifically seeking new international locations that will attract students and cover a wide variety of topics and terrain within our mission. We specifically welcome proposals for new locales in the Pacific Realm (Fiji, Tonga); Southeast Asia including India; Europe, specifically Portugal and the Azores, Croatia, Norway or other Arctic Mountain regions; and South America particularly Brazil and Uruguay. Students earn 5-15 quarter credits for three field classes covering Environmental Studies, Field Research Practices, and Environment and Culture. Lead Instructor is responsible for on-going seminars, lectures, instruction, guided field work and field methods, and assessment of all student work, as well as group dynamics and the overall well-being of participants. Requirements:

Knowledge and experience of field study location required. Applicants must have Masters degree in hand; PhD Candidates and/or completed PhD preferred. A qualified Lead Instructor will have experience leading field study programs and teaching at the undergraduate level, specifically upper division environmental studies classes; a good sense of humor, flexibility, patience, and understanding; be a physically fit experienced outdoorsperson capable of leading students on day hikes and multi-day overnight backpacking trips; a capable and skilled group facilitator able to spend 24 hours per day, 7 days per week with up to 16 students aged 18-23 for the duration of the program managing associated interpersonal dynamics; an accomplished logistical planner capable of managing the overarching and day-to-day logistics, program finances and communications; certified in First Aid and CPR (preferably WFR) and able to competently and confidently manage medical emergencies and other medical situations should they arise. We require our program staff to be able to easily transport students in vehicles. Individuals must have a clean driving record, manual transmission experience, knowledge and competence driving in international locations and, if needed, the ability to drive a right-hand drive vehicle on the left side of the road. Recycling Project Specialist

Summary: Coordinates all onsite activities at client location in relation to the storage, transportation and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes and other related services following federal, state & local regulations. Supervises and plans activities of onsite personnel. Serves as liaison between client and vendors in relation to service issues. Maintains pre-established standards for safety and environmental issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate logistics for transportation of hazardous waste, universal waste and non-hazardous waste from client site including profiling, scheduling, manifesting and physically loading bulk and drum loads.
Ensure compliance with client and government regulations by performing necessary inspections and reporting. Resolve all issues in a timely manner.
Assist with client and vendor financial obligations including invoicing, reporting and contracts.
Promote culture of safety by ensuring site personnel are properly trained to perform assigned duties and comply with safety, environmental, federal, state and local regulations.

School Sustainability Associates (SSAs) lead educational field trips at StopWaste’ s two Education Centers, support school-based programs, and help elementary, middle, and high school teachers and students take action to reduce waste.

SSAs also contribute to agency initiatives such as school infrastructure, trainings, and community outreach campaigns.

They work at the Education Centers, at schools, at the agency office, and in community settings to implement programs that advance StopWaste’ s goals and support educational equity.

Instructional support may include facilitating student-led waste audits and activities that help schools reduce waste in alignment with local climate action plans and district environmental literacy curricula. SSAs may also provide technical assistance and training, support school infrastructure projects, and assist with outreach campaigns such as StopWaste’ s Stop Food Waste campaign and carbon farming initiatives.

The position receives day-to-day direction from a StopWaste Program Manager and Project Coordinators or their designees, with work assignments at the StopWaste office and the Educational Field Trip Centers in San Leandro and Fremont. Selected candidates must have reliable transportation, be willing to travel regularly to sites throughout the county and provide proof of insurance if using a personal vehicle. Mileage between work sites is reimbursed at the standard IRS rate.

The WVU Institute for Sustainability and Energy Research at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Project Manager.

About the Opportunity

The Program Coordinator supports the tactical execution and day-to-day management of transdisciplinary projects focused on energy and sustainability. This role collaborates with faculty, students, and external partners to ensure the operational success of WISER’s mission and vision, with an emphasis on impact in West Virginia and Central Appalachia.

In this role, you will assist the Director of WISER with the day-to-day development, capture, administration, and management of research projects, including financially large (>$10M) and nationally visible initiatives. Sustainability Manager

The Sustainability Manager is responsible for supporting the State Farm Arena Facilities and Operations Team in achieving Zero Waste. Additionally, the role implements practical sustainable solutions to support operations and maintenance (O&M) and to improve the management of facilities, assets, utilities, and the “Hawk’s material supply chain”. By monitoring the Hawk’s environmental impact at all times, this role will ensure the collection of data and the implementation of changes necessary to successfully operate a ZERO WASTE arena.

Key Responsibilities:

Set and communicate daily operational objectives, expectations and create awareness around the department and business objectives with zero waste and energy conservation

Educate and train team members on sustainability programs and initiatives

Execute immediate operational adjustments and process improvements to resolve recurring issues, including updating waste signage, optimizing the placement of collection points, and deploying additional carts or stations as required by event volume

Coordinate sustainability efforts with the appropriate external and internal stakeholders and departments.

Work alongside other departments/ teams to flawlessly provide services needed.

Resolve guest concerns and complaints

Manage on-site collection, staging, and storage of waste, recycling, and compost materials for event and non-event days.

Schedule, coordinate, and inspect vendor/hauler pickups and ensure proper handling and chain-of-custody of all materials.

Review and reconcile vendor invoices related to Zero Waste operations against manifests, weights, and service logs; flag discrepancies and route for resolution.

Create and track purchase orders (POs) for vendor services and operational materials, ensuring all activity aligns with the approved budget.

Investigate and resolve operational issues and guest concerns related to waste handling and station placement.

Create and maintain a sustainability database that organizes daily/weekly volumes, weights, diversion rates, and pertinent Hawk’s use data.

Collect, analyze, report, and present data supporting sustainable solutions

Prepare regular progress reports and updates to senior management.

Contribute to the development of campaigns that advertise and market Hawk’s sustainability practices.

Exceptional writing and analytical skills, with the ability to turn complex policy, financial, and technical issues into clear arguments and practical tools for senior practitioners, funders, and public-sector audiences
Experience working with practitioners, members, public-sector partners, or geographically distributed teams to move work from concept to execution
Working knowledge of building decarbonization issues, including energy efficiency, electrification, embodied carbon, grid constraints, financing, and implementation barriers
Ability to connect decarbonization to market realities: asset performance, development feasibility, investment risk, capital markets, and community outcomes
Bachelor’s degree required

Preferred

Advanced degree in urban planning, public policy, environmental studies, climate or energy policy, real estate, business, or a related field
Familiarity with federal, state, and local policy dynamics affecting the built environment
Experience with nonprofit, philanthropic, member-based, or civic organizations
Understanding of 501(c)(3) nonpartisan public education principles and policy-adjacent communications
Familiarity with project management, collaboration, survey, webinar, or member relationship platforms

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $120,299 to $144,347. Actual compensation will be based on experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors.
