The Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) Engineering and Technology (E&T) East team is seeking a Mid-Level Energy and Conservation Specialist in North Charleston, South Carolina.
This position will be on site in North Charleston, South Carolina to support the local F&AM E&T team. The successful candidate will also provide a combination of onsite and remote support to the teams in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania and Huntsville, Alabama. Up to 25% travel may be required.

Boeing South Carolina fabricates the 787 Dreamliner airplane, supports the 737Max and is home of the DreamLifter. Boeing Ridley Park fabricates the CH-47 Chinook helicopter and supports the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft. Boeing Huntsville supports the Space Launch System and PAC-3.
Position Responsibilities:
Validate appropriate actions are taking place in accordance with the Conservation Best Practices guide published by Global Enterprise Sustainability (GES) and provide feedback for potential modifications
Review utility bills for accuracy, acting as appropriate when billing or usage exceeds expected or planned values, including a root-cause review and action plan if necessary
Identify possible building and infrastructure projects that will reduce energy usage, quantify those benefits, and partner with finance focals inside and outside of GREF for possible funding streams
Work to identify other non-trivial improvements for energy reduction through system modification or replacement, system improvement or optimization, system utilization or cycling, or other behavioral and utilization modifications
Forecast future energy usage at Boeing South Carolina, Ridley Park and Huntsville
Assist with funding forecasts for sustainability projects outside the East region
Share knowledge to replicate best practices and find solutions.
Promote energy, water and solid waste conservation by developing communication awareness tools (e.g., videos, posters, job-aids, articles) and support program goals with users in order to achieve conservation goals and metrics
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person†as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person†includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
3+ years experience developing and managing budgets.
3+ years of experience developing detailed plans and schedules.
3+ years of experience working in a sustainability or energy field
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s Degree or higher education.
Registered Professional Engineer for Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
Experience in a role that required strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
Certified Energy Manager or Certified Energy Auditor (Association of Energy Engineers).
Stationary Operators license.
LEED-AP certification.
3+ years of experience working with multiple energy sources and their cost efficiencies to determine optimum usage (e.g., gas vs. diesel; power vs. compressed air; cogeneration) in plant operations.
3+ years with wholesale energy markets (e.g., risks, supply sources, marketers, brokers, delivery grids, storage services, supply and demand factors/trends), portfolio theory, utility company operations, energy usage requirements, and scheduling/delivery procedures.
3+ years of experience working with utility (e.g., electricity, natural gas, water, sewer, solid waste) rules, regulations, laws, the legislative process and tariffs (e.g., Federal Energy Regulatory Commission orders, flow control, energy transmission and distribution rules).
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+4 years’ related work experience, 10 years’ related work experience, etc.).
