Paper and Packaging Recovery

Develop subject matter expertise (data & information) that can support lobbying efforts; participate in policymaker education and lobbying activities as needed
Stay current on issues and developments in the recycling industry and marketplace and understand how they relate to state legislative and regulatory action
Interface with members of the Recovered Fiber Sector, Packaging Sector – Containerboard/Kraft, Corrugated Packaging Alliance and other recycling industry trade associations and ENGOs, as needed
Identify issues and assist the Executive Director, Recovered Fiber and Vice President, Industry Affairs in determining desired outcomes to advance the Sectors’ objectives
Assist with research projects on certain packaging and/or paper recovery and recycling topics. This includes:
Support implementation of research design, approach, and data collection
Assist with analysis of data/information, next steps and communication of results to staff and members
Represent AF&PA to outside audiences, organizations and strategic alliances through various means including public speaking to groups of all sizes
Serve on the Product Sustainability and Market Access Team and track the budget
Serve as staff executive for the Renewable Bag Council

Recycling Outreach

Manage the development and execution of Recovered Fiber educational outreach plan to accomplish the industry’s objectives, to include:
Keep members apprised of relevant Recovered Fiber initiatives and activities
Engage other recycling industry associations to advance common educational outreach goals
Provide information and content ideas and collaborate with communications staff team on creation of interactive, informative and up-to-date recycling-related materials for the AF&PA website, print and digital media (with communications and vendors)
Support execution of communications/outreach plans for America Recycles Week
Lead educational/advocacy with outside stakeholders and municipalities supporting product recyclability.

General

Participate in Sector and committee program planning, and prepare materials for meetings
Create documents and memos on assigned topics
Draft text and create graphics for presentations
Maintain and update committee distribution lists (for mailing letters, e-mail notices, etc.).
Help manage and monitor Industry Affairs departmental budget planning and implementation
Conduct research and participate in other special projects as approved by supervisors

Sustainability Coordinator

Sustainability Program Manager

We are looking for Argonne’s next Sustainability Program Manager for the Project Management Organization within the Infrastructure Services Directorate. The role effectively establishes and executes Argonne’s sustainably program. The Sustainability Program Manager Responsible for developing sustainability related programs and initiatives in the areas of climate change, energy management, carbon free electricity production and procurement, Net Zero installation strategies and energy resilience, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reporting, sustainable acquisition and innovation, supply chain and life cycle assessments, zero emissions vehicles, pollution prevention and waste minimization. The attorney will participate in complex regulatory litigation, primarily before state electric utility regulatory bodies, collaboratively with WRA’s state-focused and regional policy teams. This position will identify opportunities to advance WRA’s policy goals in various regulatory proceedings and collaborates with the broader team to secure those identified outcomes. To this end, the attorney will craft and review discovery requests, review and edit expert witness testimony, draft motions and briefs, conduct oral argument and cross-examination, represent WRA in complex negotiations, and cultivate and maintains relationship with other key stakeholders, such as utilities, clean energy trade groups, consumer advocates, independent power producers, and other conservation groups.

Salary And Benefits

The salary range for the Staff Attorney position is $67,000-$90,000 annually, and the Senior Staff Attorney position is $86,500-$115,000 annually; salary depends on relevant experience. WRA’s excellent benefits package includes a 401(k)-retirement plan with up to 5% matching and health, dental, vision, and life & disability insurance with 100% of premiums for employee coverage paid by WRA. Annually, staff receive three weeks paid vacation leave to start, twelve paid sick days, one paid volunteer day, one paid birthday off, 12 paid holidays, and WRA is closed for Winter Break between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day for additional paid time off. Qualifications

The Position

WWT seeks a team-oriented, motivated, and resilient Project Manager with a passion for rivers and streams. The Project Manager will partner with landowners, tribes, conservation districts, land trusts, as well as local, state and federal agencies to implement and fund innovative projects with lasting benefits to endangered fish, streams, and local economies. We are seeking candidates who embrace a collaborative approach and hold a technical and social skill set to deliver high quality outcomes. Candidates should have an interest and enthusiasm for working in rural communities.

The position is full-time exempt, located in Washington state and supervised by a Program Director.

Duties and Responsibilities
· Project Management: Manage multiple projects with attention to time management, grant/contract requirements, project deliverable schedules, budgets, project metrics and team communication.

· Project Development: Research water rights and ecological needs to identify and prioritize stream restoration opportunities and develop flow restoration projects.

· Coalition/Team building: Develop effective working relationships with water rights holders, public agencies, tribes, local governments, conservation districts, irrigation districts and salmon recovery funders in WWT’s targeted basins. Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve mutual goals.

· Outreach: Develop and implement outreach strategies based on instream flow needs to reach project partners and/or water right holders by phone, email, mail, media, events and in person to meet flow restoration and project goals.

· Communications: Create and provide effective written and oral communications to diverse audiences, from highly technical to the public.

· Negotiation: Negotiate with water rights holders, subcontractors, agencies and funders to secure contracts, agreements and water transactions.

· Fundraising: Work with WWT fundraising staff to identify and pursue new funding for projects/programs.

· Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Attributes
· Knowledge of and/or ability to learn the following:

o Western water rights laws

o Conservation markets and or easements

o Microsoft Suite

o Project management software (i.e. SmartSheets)

· Experience with ArcGIS or equivalent GIS software a plus

· Demonstrated experience managing projects; experience managing multi-year projects a plus

· Strong communication skills: written, verbal, interpersonal

· Self-directed, both entrepreneurial and collaborative, and a critical thinker

· Familiarity with one or more of the following: fisheries science, watershed science, western water management, watershed-based flow restoration techniques, agricultural practices or other relevant fields

Experience and Education
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required, with a strong preference for natural resources or a related field; graduate degree or equivalent experience in natural resources or a related field is a plus.

· 7-15 years’ work experience in a natural resource management or related field, or equivalent combination of graduate school and professional experience.

Working Conditions
This position relies on cultivating good working relationships in the watersheds where we work. Employees may be asked to work occasional non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends. Staff must be willing and able to travel throughout Washington.

This job requires frequent use of computers. Under our flexible work policy, WWT offices are open to those who have been fully vaccinated, some in office work may be required, and staff may also operate from a home office. For remote work, employees must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work during scheduled work hours. A home office stipend is provided.

We are a completely COVID-19 vaccinated staff team and require proof of vaccination for any new hire, to protect the health of our WWT Team, our families and communities.

Salary and Benefits
WWT offers competitive compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The annualized salary range for these positions is $65,000-$85,000, depending on experience. We also offer a generous benefits package which includes:

100% paid health, vision, and dental insurance; 12 paid holidays; 3 weeks paid vacation (4 weeks after two years employment), paid sick leave, WA Paid Family Medical Leave and a contribution to 403(b) retirement program of up to 4% of annualized salary.
