WHAT YOU’LL DO

In Ventura Water, the Environmental Services Specialist performs professional and technical duties such as conducting water conservation surveys and providing day to day administrative support for outreach and public engagement. With the persistent drought, water conservation has become critically important to the City and has increased the focus and workload related to water conservation. This position is critical to effectively coordinating these tasks.

In Public Works, the Environmental Services Specialist assists in evaluating feasibility, development, and implementation of environmental management programs relative to sustainability, recycling and waste reduction, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and storm water quality. This position may interface with other City departments, residents, businesses, schools, regulatory and granting agencies, and local environmental stakeholders.

Ventura Water

· provide exemplary customer service while educating residents about water conservation and investigating water-wasting complaints when they occur,

· provide Water Conservation Manager Software support and Meter Data Management Customer Connect support to maintain relevant data, and

· assist in writing articles for publication and updating the website.

Public Works

· clearly communicate complex environmental issues and programs to a variety of audiences,

· develop and run successful programs to achieve compliance with applicable regulations and maximize environmental and community benefit.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO QUALIFY 

A combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, water resources management, public or business administration, or a closely related field, supplemented by one year of professional experience in researching, planning, or implementation of environmental management programs are required.

License:  Possession of a valid class C driver license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

When assigned to K-12 classroom presentations, incumbent is required to undergo live scan fingerprinting and provide proof of a negative tuberculosis test result issued within the last two years.

Sustainability Coordinator

The City of Harrisburg is accepting applications for a Sustainability Coordinator in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Facilities. The Sustainability Coordinator will be responsible for the development and implementation of a City sustainability plan, policies, and goals to transform the city into an economically prosperous and environmentally healthy city. The individual in this position is also tasked with making recommendations to department heads on environmental matters, including reduced overall greenhouse emissions from municipal operations, reduced energy use in buildings, use of recycled materials, storm water management, community green space development, and other environmental, economic and social issues affecting the City. Work is performed under the direction of the Director of Parks and Facilities or designee. This is a management, FLSA-exempt position.

Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science or a related field. A graduate degree in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science or a related field, is preferred. Three to Five (3) years of experience in public administration, public works, green building, renewable energy or a related field, is preferred. Knowledge of municipal composting processes is desirable, but not required. A valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License, Class C, is required.

Sustainability Manager

Reporting to the Energy & Engineering Manager, we are seeking a Sustainability Manager who will lead and execute a university-wide effort to prioritize and implement programs, strategies and projects focused assist Bloomberg School of Public Health (BSPH) to minimize the environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Facilitate the establishment and management of BSPH approach to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and carbon management.
Incorporate inclusive sustainability practices and approaches.
Focus on total life cycle of assets to maximize sustainability and minimize carbon footprint including but not limited to influencing of the following: design and construction standards, procurement, and operations.
Oversee the overall execution, mission, and efficacy of the sustainability program.
Coordinate and align BSPH Sustainability with JHU Sustainability vision while balancing BSPH operational considerations.
Establish and communicate BSPH sustainable efforts, achievements, and vision among BSPH students, faculty, staff, and JHU colleagues.

Collaborate with appropriate departmental leaders to facilitate sustainability evaluations that are timely and constructive.

Aggregate sustainable data and report to BSPH leadership as well as JHU Sustainability.
Work closely with the Energy & Engineering manager, section supervisors in the group, as well as leadership across BSPH, to maximize the impact to the organization to create and sustain excellence and cross-enterprise collaboration.

Scope of Responsibility

Campus wide and include all buildings that comprise of the BSPH campus, approximately 1.5 million gross square feet (gsf) of owned space. Geographical locations include: the Bloomberg School of Public Health (BSPH) and the School of Nursing (SON).

Building Energy Manager

Central Washington University is recruiting a Building Energy Manager to join our Capital Planning and Projects team in Ellensburg, Washington. This role is an important member of our team as they enhance the vision for the University. The role is a campus-based position, which means you get to see the lives you are impacting. We’re offering a salary, depending on experience, from $91,004 – $110,000 annually plus the awesome CWU benefits.

The Role:

The Building Energy Manager is responsible for the management of energy infrastructure of the University including assisting with the Capital Master Planning to meet future growth, introduction of new renewable energy technology, and oversight of energy consumption and reporting to associated regulatory agencies as needed such as the Department of Ecology, Department of Commerce, EPA, etc.

Assist with the University’s ongoing shift towards 95% greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction by 2050 strategy. This includes not only a deep involvement in the generation and distribution of energy throughout the campus district energy systems and microgrid, but also the opportunity to be involved at the building level through the construction of new sustainable facilities and building deep energy retrofits.

Job Duties

Campus Energy Management – Energy Management and Decarbonization Strategy:
– Manage projects related to decarbonizing the buildings on CWU’s campus, as well as converting the existing utilities to fossil fuel free infrastructure
– Focus on projects related to lowering the greenhouse gas emissions from buildings
– Enhance and participate in analysis and long-term planning of campus infrastructure, applying energy conservation and carbon neutrality initiatives
– Conduct energy analysis and calculations for building and district energy systems; renewable energy system studies and project execution; energy conservation projects; project feasibility analyses and design and construction cost estimates, and provide standard construction administration and inspection services for designed systems
– Develop short, medium and long-range plans for implementing energy conservation measures. Review and recommend energy conservation measures
– Provide review for all facilities design activities as relates to energy management. Utilize consultants as necessary to identify energy conservation measures. Review and recommend maintenance supply and equipment purchases to ensure energy efficient replacements are being specified. Provide regular reports as to the overall effectiveness of the energy management program
– Assume responsibility for compiling all energy reports, billings and other documents required. Prepare utility budgets and energy conservation measure cost estimates based on documented program needs
– Perform initial walk-through facility audits (ASHRAE Level 1) to identify initial energy and cost saving opportunities to include in project Requests for Quotes (RFQs)
– Review and comment on competitive preliminary proposals (ASHRAE Level 2) and investment grade audits (ASHRAE Level 3) developed by energy service company (ESCO) firms
– Analyze facility energy usage and reconcile energy consumption through energy modeling
– Review proposed new design and construction documents and advise on design decisions with potential energy savings
– Evaluate and assist in the master planning as it relates to matching central plant and utility capacity to meet future growth demands for heating, cooling, sewer, storm water, irrigation, electrical, communications, domestic water, natural gas, solar, and possibly geo-thermal. Responsible for assisting maintaining upgrading central energy plant, energy utilities, and mechanical systems in buildings

Regulatory Reporting:
– Manage the regulatory documentation submission process in coordination with the Sustainability coordinator for Green House Gas reduction plan, Carbon emission reporting, Department of Ecology reporting, Air Operating Permit

Strategic Planning:
– Provide engineering/administrative leadership for the University
– Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive campus-wide energy management and decarbonization plan
– Provide advanced knowledge of best practices in energy management for existing and new facilities
– Participate in master planning, capital planning, and design management for various projects
– Collaborate with other university stakeholders in developing and updating University design and construction standards relating to energy and sustainability engineering and campus infrastructure, and review the work of external consultants to ensure the appropriate incorporation of these standards
– Work in coordination with the Sustainability Coordinator in the integration of energy conservation awareness and sustainable practices
– Represent the University at campus and off-campus meetings, emergencies, conferences, interagency planning sessions, etc. relative to engineering, energy, and technical Infrastructure.

– Assist and advise on emergency response related to infrastructure issues as an unexpected interruption in a utility service in coordination with the Facilities Management, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Electrical, Energy, Civil).
5 years of relevant work experience in the coordination of various infrastructure systems & disciplines such as steam, natural gas, electricity, water, sewer, energy, civil, and structural.
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communications.
Working knowledge and experience in application of the appropriate engineering codes and standards in the energy/sustainability discipline.
Understanding of energy modeling programs and protocols.
Demonstrated willingness and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and experiences.
Or applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position

Preferred Qualifications

LEED accreditation, campus facilities experience, and experience with geothermal energy systems, district energy generation and distribution.

Professional Engineering (P.E.) registration in the State of Washington.
Experience in energy savings performance contracts.
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Relevant experience as the manager or director of a large utility principality such as a university campus, hospital campus, city engineer, industrial park manager, or other utility district.
Experience with regulatory agency coordination (such as, city, county, EPA, Commerce, Ecology, etc).

Qualifications:

Sustainability Manager

The City of Richmond Office of Sustainability is currently seeking a Sustainability Manager to help lead the City’s sustainability programs and strategically develop, plan, and implement City and community-wide initiatives that support equitable sustainability and resilience priorities, as identified in RVAgreen 2050. Such initiatives are implemented with the goals of improving quality of life for residents, achieving a healthier environment, and enhancing economic and job creation opportunities.

The successful candidate will collaborate with internal and external stakeholder to develop resources and partnerships for sustainability programs. The incumbent supervises professional and support staff and will conduct performance evaluations, coordinate training, and will implement departmental hiring and disciplinary procedures in accordance with City policies. Restoration Partnerships Director

As a core component of its Climate Strategy, Conservation International has set ambitious targets for scaling restoration globally as a climate solution. The Restoration Partnerships Director works with the Global Restoration Lead to build the networks and partnerships that will allow CI to amplify a range of approaches to achieve these targets. These include managing multi-country restoration programs, supporting portfolio expansion via project identification and development, building restoration partnerships, and building and managing global frameworks and planning processes to align and communicate within the restoration movement worldwide.

The Restoration Partnerships Director strengthens key partnerships to implement CI’s global strategy for restoration through facilitating CI’s leadership in key global networks, initiatives, and institutions, such as those supported through the Global Environment Facility (GEF), Green Climate Fund (GCF), and U . N . Decade for Ecosystem Restoration. They drive engagements to deliver action and impact and work with Conservation International’s partners to develop global strategy and translate that into impact on the ground, as well as bringing CI’s experience in direct restoration work around the world to the fore in informing global restoration frameworks and initiatives. The successful candidate may also lead and support other projects involving Conservation International’s mission and fill other roles as needed for the team’s success.

To be successful, the  Restoration Partnerships Director needs extensive knowledge and experience in ecosystem restoration partnerships and initiative management, as well as demonstrated experience working productively with external partners in the private sector, government, civil society, and international institutions like the G EF and GCF. They must have an interest in working with multiple collaborators simultaneously to successfully fulfill CI’s strategy for implementing restoration at scale through coordination worldwide.

The Restoration Partnerships Director works closely with Center for Natural Climate Solutions colleagues, with other key thought leaders across CI global centers, regional divisions, and country programs, and with Conservation International partners worldwide. They report directly to the Global Restoration Lead in the Center for Natural Climate Solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management:

Oversee the day-to-day management and administration of multi-country restoration initiatives and frameworks, often in collaboration with large institutions like the GEF and GCF
Refine and implement clear criteria for restoration project identification, feasibility assessment, and project design.
Support the tracking, monitoring, and reporting of activities from the country level to the institutional level.
Coordinate participation by CI and partner staff (as appropriate) in the co-creation and collaboration on a shared programmatic approach to restoration and program rollout
Develop and manage global restoration portfolios in collaboration with GEF, GCF, or other key organizational partners, identifying and overcoming barriers to scaling and success.
Build and maintain key relationships aligned with CI’s restoration goals including with peer organizations, networks, and coalitions at multiple levels (global, regional, national) 
Organize events, workshops, and meetings collaboratively with partners to advance progress toward key program and CI restoration goal perspectives
Attend relevant external events on behalf of CI.
Research:

Direct the compilation of and collaboration on joint research and products related to advancing restoration program objectives.
Develop strategies and tools for successfully implementing and monitoring restoration projects, in collaboration with country programs and other CI or partner staff.
Develop innovative research products and multilateral partnerships that shape restoration as a global climate solution, drive enhanced funding and resources towards restoration, and contribute to the advancement of CI and partners’ expertise and credibility on restoration issues.
Capacity Building:

Provide targeted restoration capacity-building support and training to restoration project teams.
Build and maintain strong working relationships between project restoration teams, the Center for Natural Climate Solutions, and other CI staff and partners.
Support project restoration teams in accessing the resources necessary for successful implementation.
Coordinate communication and resource-sharing among restoration projects, including but not limited to support on country-specific restoration strategy development, monitoring and evaluation, staff and partner training, and in-field progress assessments.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, policy, management; or similar, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
7 or more years of relevant work experience, preferably with a focus on large-scale restoration portfolio management, GEF and GCF projects, and convening of restoration actors across diverse and challenging contexts.
Project management experience working with multiple collaborators and institutions simultaneously to achieve ambitious, specific, and time-bound commitments.
Strong proficiency with excel and other project-tracking software and workflows.
Ability to effectively work in a team across the full diversity of CI’s global organization.
Experience convening a broad range of individuals and organizing events in multiple contexts.
Demonstrated track record of working effectively with multicultural, multidisciplinary teams to produce concrete results.
Experience in project management, coalition-building, and fieldwork in restoration.
Strong capacity to navigate diversity, equity, and inclusion challenges and opportunities.
Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred

Master’s degree
Experience in monitoring and evaluation, spatial data analysis, and/or safeguards.

VP, Sustainability

This role will be responsible for leading, inspiring, developing, and implementing strategies and programs that will advance Virgin Galactic’s sustainability goals. The role will manage sustainability reporting and ESG disclosures, lead enterprise-wide green teams and collaborates across all business units to develop and execute sustainability initiatives and goals; identifying priorities, defining goals and KPIs and reporting for accountability. The role will regularly brief senior management on environmental topics and performance. This role will be responsible for driving our sustainability strategy, conceptualizing and developing the vision and strategy to drive the company’s corporate sustainability efforts
They will have the ability to represent our sustainability efforts internally and externally, uncover strategic opportunities, and deliver innovative solutions

10+ years’ experience designing, implementing, and overseeing environmental or sustainability programs
