Job Brief

Job Responsibilities

Develop performance metrics and tracking of SRP’s existing solar forecasting tools.
Evaluate vendor solutions and follow industry research and best practices for solar forecasting to make recommendations for enhancements to SRP’s existing practices in line with Operational Readiness objectives.
Lead implementation of recommended models for forecasting of solar generation and serves as a liaison between SRP and selected vendors. This includes studying and innovating new forecasting methodologies and best practices that integrate fine-grained data sources, such as near real-time cloud forecasts, to keep SRP at the leading edge of the industry standard in this area.
Lead communication and customer support for the operations teams for solar forecasting performance. This includes maintaining the models and addressing significant forecast errors. Provide direct support to grid operations and trading teams to ensure solar forecasting requirements are met.
Benchmark, track, improve, and communicate the performance of the solar forecasting models and collaborate with IT to maintain the infrastructure, including both internal and external data pipelines.
Collaborate with site operations and maintenance (O&M) to monitor, track, and improve site availability and ensure that targets identified in the purchased power agreements are met.
Draw conclusions from the forecasting of real-time renewable resource variability and battery production to apply to future strategic efforts and model enhancements.
Anticipate planning needs, identify/address gaps, and satisfy operational readiness needs for solar forecasts.
Deliver high-level analysis, data, and business solutions to Executive Management to aid in decision making.

Education

Sustainability Analyst

The Sustainability Analyst will support the Environmental Impact Director in the execution of company sustainability projects and programs with a focus on data analysis and project management.

The Sustainability Analyst will be the primary owner of company environmental data including the application of continuous improvement methods to increase the effectiveness of these systems (in terms of accuracy, actionability, and efficiency). Sustainability Lecturer

The sustainability lecturer will be a key team member of the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and the UW Madison Office of Sustainability. The sustainability lecturer will be expected to teach a load of 10 credit hours each fall and spring semester. Courses may include 1) Systems Thinking (3 credits, existing course), 2) Life Cycle Assessment (3 credits, existing course), 3) Introduction to Sustainability (3 credits, new course), 4) Capstone for the Graduate Sustainability Certificate (3 credits, new course) and/or 5) Community Service in Sustainability (1 credit, seminar style course).

Energy and Sustainability Manager

Job Description

Reporting to the AVP-Facilities Management & Planning/Chief Sustainability Officer, the position will lead the Office of Sustainability. The manager is responsible for improving and delivering a high level of sustainability performance in the built habitat, with primary focus on energy efficiency. The manager focuses on effective operation of the College’s infrastructure and building systems to reduce the campus’s carbon footprint, as measured through annual reporting (approximately 80% of time). The manager works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students as well as the College’s Sustainability Committee to provide support and technical assistance to implement sustainability initiatives across the College (approximately 20% of time).

Primary Position Responsibilities

Leads Facilities Energy Management Task-Force. Analyzes energy usage data to identify opportunities where efficiencies can be improved. Develops scopes of work and manages implementation working closely with contractors, central utility plant and trade shops.

Assists in defining sustainability goals and tracks performance metrics to assess program effectiveness. Improves the effectiveness of the College’s sustainability practices by monitoring best practices at the College’s benchmark peer institutions and other select institutions and making recommendations for new sustainability programming and modifications to existing programs.

Sustainability Programs Coordinator

Summary: Responsible for coordinating, developing and delivering programs, projects and activities related to managing watershed quality and storm water impacts on the environment including homeowner rebate programs for the use of native and effective landscaping/rainscaping options. Core areas of focus include improving watersheds and aquatic life benefits in suburban streams by educating and informing landowners and implementing green infrastructure technologies to improve water quality stemming from nonpoint source pollution, with a focus on plant based solutions. Coordinates within multiple programs funded by outside organizations, acts as liaison with the funders and landowners and contractors, problem solves for a large variety of ongoing issues while processing and evaluating several hundred homeowner grant applications. Includes providing annual homeowner information sessions and trainings for professionals in the field of storm water management, communicating with all applicants, facilitating stream clean ups, preparing e-newsletters, social media posts, website updates and reports, and managing large databases. â— Collaborates and coordinates with internal team and external committee members, contractors, partners, and funders to complete all grant and contract related tasks and continually update existing programs. Promotes these partnerships to enable long-term relationships with the Garden and these entities.
â— Tracks data and prepares quarterly reports to submit to funders, sharing progress and impact results, and assists finance staff with preparing quarterly invoices.
â— Schedules, develops, coordinates logistics and personally provides presentations, conducts classes, and designs and facilitates training workshops for public & professional audiences, including landscape architects, landscaping industry professionals, general business professionals and residential landowners. Plans, makes arrangements, purchase food and supplies and coordinates registration for all meetings, orientations, seminars and trainings.
â— Conducts all education/outreach and public engagement components included in the grants and contracts, including preparing signage, serving as site leader for annual stream trash clean-ups, assisting with annual Honeysuckle Sweeps, develops and manages rainscaping e-newsletters and systems, coordinates all rainscaping website updates and social media posts. Ensures all listings are up-to-date and accurate.
â— Assists when needed in implementing projects of other coordinators in the Natural Environments Team.
â— Represents the Garden in a professional manner at relevant community outreach events and within resource conservation organizational networks. Promotes mutual understanding and respect; appropriately expresses opinions; keeps others informed.
â— Ensures that all applicable safety standards are followed; i.e. informs employees, volunteers, students of safety rules and safe working practices and routinely monitor to enforce them. Adapts or modifies work methods to reduce hazards. Reports all accidents, injuries and near-miss accidents immediately.
â— Behaves and communicates in a manner that promotes and fosters a culture of teamwork, mutual support, and cooperation, within the division, department and throughout the Garden, with co-workers, supervisors/managers, volunteers, visitors, contractors and employees.
â— Participates in team and division meetings and events as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience:
â— Minimum three (3) years in working on community based sustainability related projects and in working with the public, professionals and funders on such projects.
â— Demonstrated knowledgebase and strong technical abilities in the principles of sustainability especially as it relates to storm water and water quality and watershed management.
â— Demonstrated knowledgebase of horticulture and landscape design working with Missouri native plants
â— Must have an interest in environmental issues and be dedicated to fairly representing all sides of such issues.
â— Minimum of three (3) years successfully managing large amounts of data as it relates to environmental projects.
â— Demonstrated abilities and prior experience in successfully managing the distribution of small grants/rebate programs.
â— Exceptional ability to communicate effectively at all levels both verbally and in writing; must enjoy and feel comfortable with public speaking, interacting and working in close proximity to general public, in a safe and friendly manner.
â— Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team of both internal and external members for common goals and in sharing expertise.
â— Excellent organization and planning skills, demonstrated analytical and project management skills, success at managing a wide array of tasks and projects.
