Sustainability Analyst

The Sustainability Analyst is responsible for providing technical support to Smithfield Foods’ Sustainability efforts. The position will focus on collecting, reporting, and disseminating data for the Sustainability team, with particular attention given to our carbon footprint. The role requires extensive collaboration across multiple teams to accurately track key metrics, such as but not limited to production, water usage, resource usage, and GHG emissions. Core Responsibilities

Internal Reporting & Documentation:
Analyze data collection related to resource usage across all Smithfield Foods facilities.
Report progress to the Sustainability team on all relevant projects and their impact on water usage, GHG emissions, and other tracked metrics.
Collaborate with other Sustainability members to create reports for existing/potential customers, trade organizations and non-profit organizations.
Identify and propose new Sustainability projects based on areas of opportunity.
Data Accuracy
Collaborate with Environmental Affairs, Finance, Production, and other relevant teams to ensure all data reported to customers and authorities is accurate.
Work with relevant teams to ensure data structures are maintained with streamlined tracking and reporting.
Assist with assurance and validation activities related to our annual report and/or GHG inventory.
Support Compliance, Environmental Affairs, and Corporate Finance teams by creating accurate reports as required by local, state, and national authorities.

Environmentalist III – Sustainability Program Assistant

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Environmental Services, Water Division, Drinking Water & Groundwater Bureau has a full time vacancy for an Environmentalist III – Sustainability Program Assistant.

Summary:

Plans, implements, and coordinates a variety of programs and special projects within the Engineering & Survey and Sustainability Sections of the Drinking Water and Groundwater Bureau with a focus on providing technical assistance to public water systems related to emergency planning and response, asset management, water and energy efficiency, climate change and resilience in order to ensure compliance with established laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

Implements enforcement actions to achieve compliance with emergency planning laws and regulations, including drafting letters regarding deficiencies and Notice of Violations and ensures that department decisions are based on accurate technical information and applicable statute and rules.

Coordinates and shares emergency response and planning information with other agency staff in different divisions with overlapping jurisdictions to ensure uniformity in agency policies and procedures.

Assists with updating forms and posting documents on the agency website.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Assistant Director, Sustainability & Utility Programs

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Sustainability, the Manager, Sustainability will work in a demanding and high-profile organization responsible for working across the business to drive strategies and programs that support AVANGRID’s ESG+F strategy and positions AVANGRID as the leading sustainable energy company in the US.

In this role, you will work closely with the Director to support sustainability initiatives and drive accountability and coordination for those activities across a matrixed organization which includes coordination across the organization including Corporate, Networks and Renewables businesses as well as parent company representatives (Iberdrola S.A.) headquartered in Madrid, Spain.

In this role, you will work closely with the Sustainability team to support a holistic strategy for sustainability initiatives and drive accountability and coordination for those activities across a matrixed organization. The Manager will implement continual process improvements to adapt, improve and mature our non-financial data reporting to support ESG reporting and communications.

Texas Program DIrector

Solar United Neighbors (SUN) is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to creating a clean, equitable, resilient energy system that benefits everyone. We help people go solar, join together, and fight for their energy rights.
About the Position

The Texas Program Director is responsible for leading the work of Solar United Neighbors throughout the state. The director will take over a successful state program that was originally launched in 2018. To date, we have organized 16 solar group buy programs, helped 250 Texans install more than 2 megawatts of rooftop solar and 1 megawatt of battery storage, and amassed a membership of 18,000 Texas solar enthusiasts. The position entails overseeing all aspects of the organization’s work in Texas, including solar deployment programs, policy and advocacy campaigns, community engagement efforts, low-and-moderate income solar projects, partnership development, fundraising, and staff management. The Texas Program Director is directly supported by the West Region Director and a team of cross-cutting staff that assist with technical solar expertise, communications, policy support, equity programs, fundraising, and community engagement.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several  U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $120,700 — $212,100 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

This role is responsible for supporting the development of regional energy market reports and act as an external customer-facing consultant and an experienced and proficient practitioner working with one or a number of Hitachi Energy’s Solution sets.
Your responsibilities

Lead development of long-term energy, capacity, and REC price forecasts for a region in North America (i.e. ERCOT or Northeast or Midwest etc.) and develop regional reports to support development of EMA’s North American Power Reference Case product.
Lead consulting assignments of very high complexity. Contribute to the creation of the business strategy in consulting area and ensure implementation. Conduct market studies to identify opportunities for new and repeat business for Hitachi Energy’s products and services.
Lead alignment and development of consultancy products and services to meet customers’ needs. Oversee and deliver challenging and major assignments. Approve and review tasks carried out by others. Define best practices for the business.
Work with minimal supervision. Complete latitude for independent judgment. May mentor less experienced peers and display leadership as needed.
The Senior Advisory Consultant would be responsible for:
Enhancing Hitachi Energy’s strategic consulting capabilities with the renewable developer community with best practice consulting advice
Establishes client contacts at senior level (e.g. Managing or Technical Director), works with customers at a strategic level and coaches them.
Providing insight to Hitachi Energy product managers for software tool improvements and roadmaps for client use in best practices and valuable reports
Leads consulting project of high complexity, including:
Modeling renewable, energy storage, hybrid and/or co-located resources, electric vehicles, demand response, distributed energy resources etc.
Developing energy, capacity, and Renewable Energy Credit (REC) price forecasts
Analyzing and presenting a coherent narrative around regional power market trends

Your background

Bachelor’s or higher degree related to particular business area.
Post Graduate qualifications desirable.
Comprehensive knowledge of related disciplines in the organization.
Relevant industry technical certifications desirable
Recognized as a subject matter expert/proficient practitioner in relevant field
Expert knowledge of world energy markets, the macro economic factors influencing those markets over a 30 year time horizon, how to use Hitachi Energy EPM Simulation Model software products to simulate future scenarios in those markets and perform sensitivities for key contributing factors.
An ability to produce documentation and collateral and to develop Hitachi Energy excellence in project delivery capability and methodologies.
Ability to analyze numerical data, verbal data and all other sources of information;
Fluent spoken and written English and language local to country in which employed
8-10 years professional experience in relevant industry.
Proven experience in professional consulting role (desirable) and in implementation of Hitachi Energy solutions or equivalent
Proven extensive experience identifying and managing project issues and risks, including mitigation strategies and plans.

The Mid-Atlantic Solar Specialist (Specialist) works across regional and national divisions to help develop and implement

at the intersection of solar energy generation and farmland conservation. The position will both advance specific national Smart Solar initiatives, and lead program development in the Mid-Atlantic Region (Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania) with an emphasis on Virginia. The Specialist will collaborate closely with AFT’s national smart solar director, regional teams, AFT’s policy, climate, and communications experts and other staff to ensure that AFT’s programming is funded, strategic, synergistic, and impactful.

What You’ll Be Working On

The Specialist will play a leadership role in developing and managing Smart Solar initiatives and support services for farmers and landowners, identifying key partners and collaborators, and leveraging funding for AFT’s Smart Solar program in the Mid-Atlantic Region. With substantial solar development expected in the next 5-10 years and increasing pressures on the region’s most productive, versatile, and resilient farmland, the Specialist will be a regional voice and trusted resource in strategies to integrate solar energy development with agricultural land protection, regenerative farming practices, farm viability, land access, and other aspects of AFT’s programs. Building on AFT’s Smart Solar leadership in other regions of the country, this is an exciting and pivotal opportunity to shape and develop the foundation for AFT’s Smart Solar work in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The Specialist will work within AFT’s Mid-Atlantic Region and collaborate with other AFT regional Solar Specialists, contractors, researchers, and consultants engaged in solar land use policy, research, communications, and other programs across AFT.

The Specialist will report to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Director. This is a full-time remote position and Specialist will ideally be based in Virginia or Maryland.

Duties and responsibilities include:

Work in partnership with the Regional Director and team to design, prioritize, fund, and implement Smart Solar programming in the Mid-Atlantic region with a focus on supporting farmers, advancing dual-use/agrivoltaics, and educating decision-makers on policy solutions.
Develop and deliver farmer and farmland owner focused education and support on the risks, opportunities, and considerations associated with leasing land for solar energy.
Collaborate with organizations, solar companies, land management agencies, researchers, and others to incentivize, support, fund, and implement pilot projects that demonstrate the potential application for agrivoltaics.
Support regional and national staff to track state and select local energy, land use and climate policies and proactively engage with state agencies, agricultural interests, and other key AFT stakeholders to communicate policy impacts, benefits, and costs to farmers and farmland.
Be familiar with and, as directed, assist in educating farmers about resources and funding opportunities for on-farm solar energy production primarily for on-farm use. Work thoughtfully and strategically across regional and national divisions to help formulate, align and maximize AFT’s strategies, policies, and tactics relative to solar energy development.
Cultivate significant relationships with solar and agricultural industry leaders, trade associations, and others in AFT’s growing Smart Solar network with a focus on increasing awareness of farmland conservation issues and building regional partnerships for research, policy, and AFT programs.
Represent AFT in relevant stakeholder coalitions, state and regional policy working groups, and other public and collaborative processes related to solar energy.
Help cultivate significant relationships with government, foundation, and individual funders to assure sustainable funding for AFT’s Smart Solar programming and services in partnership with AFT’s fundraising teams.
Design and support corporate partnership opportunities with solar developers and other entities involved in Smart Solar efforts.
Communicate with stakeholders, funders, government organizations, the media, and the public about AFT’s regional work at the intersection of solar energy and agriculture.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate and deliver education for farmland protection professionals around the use of Smart Solar in multi-benefit land repurposing programs.
Provide thought leadership and support to other AFT divisions outside of the Mid-Atlantic region as they seek to build capacity and explore policy priorities on solar.

Requirements

Familiarity with the state and regional policy landscape for solar development, climate smart agricultural practices, agrivoltaics, and farmland protection across the Mid-Atlantic region.
Familiarity with farming and grazing practices, agricultural systems, landscapes, and farm viability issues in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Strong relationships with solar development community, agricultural and land conservation community, and other networks.
Experience and comfort interacting with diverse stakeholders including farmers, agricultural landowners, solar developers, advocates, agency staff, extension educators, elected officials, and funders.
Passion for collaboration, applied research, and solutions to tackle complex issues that include climate change, farmland protection, and solar energy development.
Demonstrated experience in and extensive understanding of solar energy development, ideally with expertise in public policy relative to solar energy development, including origination, permitting, community engagement, and awareness of related siting issues including land-use planning and farmland impacts.
Technical understanding and awareness of energy development issues in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Track record of translating ideas into action and action into impact by developing and implementing effective strategies, projects and programs.
Excellent project management skills and experience working in diverse teams of colleagues, peers, and external partners.
Lived experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to advancing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice.

Must be based in the Mid-Atlantic Region, with a preference for candidates based in Virginia or Maryland.

Education & Experience

A minimum of 5 years of combined related work experience in energy development (preferably solar), agriculture, farmer support services, fundraising, public policy, public administration, and/or program management.
