Solid Waste Activities:

Assist with research, analysis, reporting, performance measurement, data documentation, presentations, policy development, and correspondence related to the solid waste program
Assist with oversight of the city’s solid waste and associated ordinances to ensure requirements are met
Assist with addressing and resolving issues, concerns, or complaints regarding solid waste collection activities and ensure communication between all parties
Identify and apply for grants, funds, or other related support for solid waste initiatives

Special Projects:

Lead work with multifamily and commercial properties to develop and increase recycling and organics collection and procure solid waste related grants
Coordinate internal solid waste collection services and education at City facilities and parks
Increase participation in the City’s residential organics recycling program through creation and implementation of community-based outreach and education
Create and promote reuse and waste prevention activities and events, including components of the City’s Bulky Item Management Program

Education and Outreach:

Develop, coordinate, and attend events, make presentations, and distribute information to groups or individuals, including City staff, about key topics in solid waste diversion initiatives, reuse and waste prevention
Build relationships and trust with community members, especially those who have been historically underserved
Work with staff and community partners to create population-specific engagement opportunities, print materials, videos, social media campaigns, surveys, and listening sessions to engage and educate different stakeholders
Develop tools to track and evaluate the effectiveness of related outreach and education programs
Provide community feedback and prepare written and oral reports, program descriptions, recommendations for action, and other communications to City staff, elected and appointed officials, industry groups, and the public

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specific Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Job Responsibilities

Develop performance metrics and tracking of SRP’s existing solar forecasting tools.
Evaluate vendor solutions and follow industry research and best practices for solar forecasting to make recommendations for enhancements to SRP’s existing practices in line with Operational Readiness objectives.
Lead implementation of recommended models for forecasting of solar generation and serves as a liaison between SRP and selected vendors. This includes studying and innovating new forecasting methodologies and best practices that integrate fine-grained data sources, such as near real-time cloud forecasts, to keep SRP at the leading edge of the industry standard in this area.
Lead communication and customer support for the operations teams for solar forecasting performance. This includes maintaining the models and addressing significant forecast errors. Provide direct support to grid operations and trading teams to ensure solar forecasting requirements are met.
Benchmark, track, improve, and communicate the performance of the solar forecasting models and collaborate with IT to maintain the infrastructure, including both internal and external data pipelines.
Collaborate with site operations and maintenance (O&M) to monitor, track, and improve site availability and ensure that targets identified in the purchased power agreements are met.
Draw conclusions from the forecasting of real-time renewable resource variability and battery production to apply to future strategic efforts and model enhancements.
Anticipate planning needs, identify/address gaps, and satisfy operational readiness needs for solar forecasts.
Deliver high-level analysis, data, and business solutions to Executive Management to aid in decision making.

Education
Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.
Experience

Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at Level 1 and demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Clean Energy Program Director

Western Resource Advocates (WRA) is seeking an experienced leader to oversee and advance the progress of our Clean Energy Program. The Clean Energy Program Director will be a seniorâ€level position responsible for leading WRA’s work to address climate change and accelerate the transition to clean energy in the in the Western United States. Directly supervising three Deputy Directors and collectively managing a team of over 30 people, the Clean Energy Program Director will lead the development of program goals and strategies, ensure that those strategies are implemented and the goals are achieved. Responsibilities And Activities
Clean Energy Program Management

Working with the President and VP of Policy and Programs establish high level goals and strategies to advance WRA’s vision of western economy powered by 100% carbonâ€free energy.
Supervise program staff providing direction, guidance, and support to ensure a highly functioning team.
Ensure that the program is meeting its goals and objectives and that the program’s work is aligned and coordinated across the region.
Guide the development of team members to ensure they have the training, mentoring, resources, feedback, and support to maximize their performance and skills development.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in economics, public policy, law, engineering or related field.

Salary And Benefits

The salary range is $125,000-$165,000 annually; salary depends on relevant experience and new staff rarely start at the top of the range. WRA’s excellent benefits package includes a 401(k) retirement plan with up to 5% matching and health, dental, vision, and life & disability insurance with 100% of premiums paid by WRA. Sustainability Manager

The Town of Wayland seeks candidates passionate about climate action for the newly created full-time Sustainability Manager position. The Sustainability Manager will be responsible for implementing Wayland’s Climate Action Mobilization Plan (CAMP) and will oversee a variety of energy and sustainability-related capital building and infrastructure projects to meet the Town’s climate goals. Responsibilities:

The Sustainable Business Manager will work with business partners, educational institutions, and job-seekers to develop and implement programs that support a local green job economy. Effective candidates will be excellent relationship builders with experience in event planning, outreach, and research.

Responsibilities include:

Cultivate strong relationships with business owners, educational institutions, and community leaders across the Piedmont region. Attend a wide variety of community events and regularly meet with prospective and current stakeholders to build long-term partnerships.

Plan and launch new programs and events that stimulate the green economy, including an annual Green Jobs Fair that connects employers with job seekers, regular educational webinars, and a directory for local green job opportunities.

Grow existing PEA programming, including the Green Business Network. Conduct outreach, communicate with participants, develop new printed and digital materials, and research best practices as programs develop.

Research and develop materials that support a growing local green job economy, including FAQs and guides for businesses and educational institutions.

Collaborate with the PEA team on events, including the Sustainability Roundtable and Piedmont Earth Day Fair, that reach local and regional audiences and require broad participation from local businesses and organizations.

Compensation:

This is a part-time position for 25 hours a week with the potential for additional hours as funding becomes available. The salary range is $25,000- $30,000 annually, commensurate with experience. PEA offers some flexibility on working location, with an expectation that at least half of working hours take place in our Winston-Salem based office.

Analyst, Sustainability

The Sustainability Analyst is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of JOANN’s environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) program, including project and program management, researching of ESG trends and issues, and compiling and analyzing key ESG metrics and data. This role will interact on a day-to-day basis with Team Members from across the company to deliver on key ESG priorities including but, not limited to, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventories and reduction strategies, climate and ESG-related public reporting and disclosures, and product sustainability/circularity initiatives.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

 Support annual GHG emissions inventory efforts including Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 related data collection and coordination with external vendor

 Collect and analyze ESG baseline metrics to support JOANN’s ESG strategy implementation

 Support climate and ESG-related reporting by drafting content, preparing presentations, and compiling data to meet TCFD, SASB, GRI and/or CDP requirements

 Work with cross-functional teams to identify, implement, and track emissions reduction strategies including energy management and circularity

 Participate in existing internal teams to advance key social and governance company priorities

 Monitor peer companies/emerging ESG trends to position JOANN as an ESG leader

 Monitor state and federal policy relative to ESG to assess impact on business operations and objectives
Manage interns as required

Some travel may be required, primarily for conferences and trainings.

Job Description:

The Associate Director will assist in implementation of the mission of the Center for the Sustainable Environment and the Sustainability Master Plan. They will help to provide guidance to student organizations to promote environmental stewardship values and practices into campus life.

Essential Functions:

Design and lead programs and projects under the guidance of the Director of the Center for the Sustainable Environment that help forward the mission of the Center for the Sustainable Environment and the College’s Sustainability Master plan such as greenhouse gas inventories, waste stream audits, sustainability speaker series, and Sustainability Week.
Create education campaigns to help promote sustainable literacy for both the F&M and the greater Lancaster community.
Supervise a team of student workers working on sustainability initiatives such as Green Office Certifications, Recycling Education, etc.
Advise students, particularly those in the Fair Trade Cafe, Environmental Action Alliance, Dirt Army, Sustainability House, DipCon, Granola Bar and other relevant environmental clubs in furthering their initiatives.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience is required; degrees related to environment preferred or helpful
Minimum of 1 year Sustainability, Conservation, Environmental Stewardship or experience in equivalent field required. minimum of 4 years experience in higher education, data analysist, grant writing, project management, LEED experience preferred.
Intermediate level of proficiency using Google Suite and Microsoft Office is required.
Basic level of proficiency using Tablo is preferred
Basic level of proficiency using Qualtrics, Photoshop, Adobe, and basic editing is preferred
Ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential.
Because this position requires driving for college business, the successful candidate must possess a U.S. or Canadian driver’s license which has been valid for at least two years, have a driving record that is free from excessive motor vehicle violations within the last three years, and have had no convictions in the last 24 months for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
