Responsibilities

The Sustaining Project Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing of sustainability initiatives within our organization and providing technical leadership for the execution of these plans. Works across departments to plan environmentally beneficial impacts with measurable results. Creates and supports manufacturing processes that reduce waste, reduce resource consumption, recycle materials and gain efficiency. Develop and monitors key performance indicators and provides stakeholders with sustainability program reports. Develops and deploys systems to ensure conformance to standards, regulatory requirements and customer expectations related to sustainability. This Project Manager will typically be overseeing several projects at once.

Sustainability Strategy Development:Work to establish a campus wide environmental mission statement and set of goals for our environmental impact, then turn these inputs into a sustainability program. Create sustainability plans with results measured by an Environmental Impact Assessment.

Suggested sustainability initiatives are listed below.

Work across departments to become ISCC+ certified (an approved initiative). The initial goal is tip product release by July 2025. Implement systems to maintain this certification and audits to ensure future compliance. This may include setting a carbon footprint reduction goal.
Investigate, propose and implement recycling programs. This may include a post-consumer tip material, a companywide corrugated recovery program and a pallet salvage system.
Work with the facilities group to review resource efficiency and energy use alternatives. Investigate, propose, and implement renewable energy infrastructure. Review water use and conservation including our disposal methods and escapes. Review our buildings, insulation, methods of heating / cooling, and use/type of lighting. This may include using heat exchangers to re-capture our air compressor exhaust to heat the facility.
Work with our logistic group to review the supply chain and reduce waste and shipping where possible. Review the company delivery truck & van use and electric alternatives.
Create a training program for our employees to increase engagement and ownership in the above initiatives and aid in the generation of future improvements.
Facilitate the creation of sustainability-related policies with various departments.
Devise and deploy systems to communicate Hamilton sustainability information to customers and third-party rating services.
Calculate and monitor greenhouse gas emissions and report to internal and external stakeholders.
Develop and deploy sustainability key performance indicators (KPI) and reporting mechanisms.
Identify industry trends related to sustainability and develop and deploy strategies that allow the company to meet upcoming regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
Assist in obtaining environmental management system and other certifications as required.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field from a regionally accredited not-for-profit College or University.
Minimum of 5 years experience within the engineering discipline, preferably relating to the company product areas; e.g. design and manufacture of multi-discipline electro-mechanical/ robotic instruments.
Experience managing projects relating to one or more of the four pillars of Sustainability (Human, Social, Economic, Environmental) preferred.

Energy Program Manager

The Energy Program Manager is responsible for Lake County’s facilities energy management program and activities. The Energy Program Manager sets or advises on energy goals; supervises energy efficiency projects and energy-related operations and maintenance activities; oversees energy performance tracking, analysis, and reporting; manages and forecasts energy budgets; and leads a team of energy and utility professionals. The Energy Program Manager collaborates with other offices and engages with utility, service, and equipment providers to identify and execute energy projects and programs. The Energy Program Manager communicates the organization’s energy activities and performance to internal and external stakeholders. This position is under the direction of the Facilities Management Division Head.
Essential Functions

The Energy Program Manager performs the following duties and tasks:

Directs Lake County’s energy management program, activities, and staff.
Supervises team responsible for managing energy-using assets to achieve energy and cost savings.
Advises on or sets energy goals, monitors progress, and communicates performance.
Develops and manages Lake County’s energy budget in coordination with other offices, which includes tracking energy consumption and costs and budget forecasting and advises on energy commodity purchasing.
Creates internal policies and procedures to optimize the energy-efficient use and operations of the organization’s facilities and equipment.
Maintains central energy database that includes utility and operational data; oversees energy data entry and energy data analysis activities, including oversight of energy management and information systems.
Oversees and/or conducts energy audits at each facility to identify energy conservation measures.
Prepares and disseminates energy performance reports to a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Participates in capital improvement and new construction projects concerning facility design to ensure maximum resource efficiency and sustainable building practices.
Leads energy awareness, education, and engagement activities, including at external events and meetings.
Applies for and manages incentives and grants that support energy projects and programs.
Tracks, analyzes, and acts on state and federal energy legislation and regulations that impact the organization.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining professional networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Communicates (orally and in writing) with the FCS Department Head, CAO, and senior officials throughout the County.
All other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required

Three to five years of professional experience in energy or facility management, environmental services, engineering, or equivalent experience promoting resource efficiency within an organization.
Experience managing energy consumption and operating costs related to a range of facility and asset types, including analyzing and evaluating data and using software and data management tools.
Knowledge of building science, mechanical systems, lighting, and controls equipment.
Experience with budgeting, procurement and contract documents, and financing, including grant programs.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret building designs and construction plans, control drawings, service bulletins, technical procedure manuals, equipment specifications, and governmental regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with multiple stakeholders.
Demonstrated leadership experience.

Education and/or Other Requirements:

Director of Sustainability and Resilience

Research Assistant, Clean Energy

WRI’s Energy Program speeds the transition to a low-carbon, inclusive energy future by helping to build clean energy markets and change institutions. The U.S. Energy team focuses on decarbonization of the power and transportation sectors, with a focus of working with local and state governments, large energy buyers, utilities and others. The team focuses on effective implementation of new federal funding and programs through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) to accelerate equitable deployment of clean energy.

Job Highlight:

Reporting to Senior Manager, City Clean Energy, you will integrate equity into your work. You will provide research and coordination support for WRI’s domestic energy projects, including technical assistance and education for local governments and other stakeholders through programs such as the U.S. DOE’s Clean Energy to Communities and SolSmart programs and the Bloomberg American Sustainable Cities program. You will also support a new workstream on accelerating the development of clean firm power resources that are needed for power sector transformation.

Climate Resilience Coordinator

About Groundwork Southcoast:

(GWSC) is an environmental justice (EJ) organization focused on investing in the leadership of youth and adult residents from EJ communities in Fall River and New Bedford through leadership development, workforce programs, and environmental stewardship. We prioritize community-driven action that addresses issues of environmental, racial, and social justice and equity.

Position Summary:

The Climate Resilience Coordinator will work alongside the Impact Director to support critical initiatives related to climate resilience, environmental justice, and community empowerment. This role involves supporting data collection, analysis, and the implementation of climate resilience projects within the Climate Safe Neighborhoods initiative, focusing on land, water, food stewardship, and community leadership development.

Key Responsibilities:

Data, Climate Safe Neighborhoods, and Climate Resilience (65% of work):

● Lead Tree Planting Program: Take primary responsibility for the technical aspects of GWSC’s tree planting efforts, including planning, coordinating, and overseeing all activities related to tree selection, planting, and care. Ensure that tree planting initiatives align with climate resilience goals and enhance environmental and community health.

● Air Quality Monitoring: Regularly monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot air quality monitors to ensure accurate data collection. Provide hands-on technical support for the installation, calibration, and ongoing maintenance of equipment, ensuring the devices are functioning optimally.

Energy Specialist

The Cenergistic Energy Specialist serves as the “face” of Cenergistic’s energy conservation program and works to establish accountability for energy consumption. This person is responsible for developing and driving the organization’s energy conservation program.

Summary
The Cenergistic Energy Specialist’s two primary duties will be to spend time identifying savings opportunities and working with the organization’s personnel executing implementation strategies. Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited College or University with a bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of work experience
Or Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma with six (6) years’ work experience
Demonstrate analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Must possess above-average written and verbal communication skills
Ability to exercise good judgment in the implementation of policy
Ability to promote Client involvement and engagement to implement change
Ability to conduct presentations in large and small groups
Demonstrate ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and concurrent projects
Must possess above-average experience with technology and personal computer operations including Microsoft Office products with a strong emphasis on Excel, smartphone applications, and handheld tablets
Must Commit to irregular hours (nights, weekends, early mornings, holidays, and summer)
Must maintain a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive to client locations
