A day in the life as a Sustainability Associate…

Provide industry expertise and initiative implementation
Lead the design and implementation of priority initiatives, through active program development and project management responsibilities.
Climate-Related Initiatives:
Develop and implement a comprehensive climate action plan in alignment with organizational goals.
Monitor and assess the company’s carbon footprint, identifying areas for reduction and improvement.

Circular Solutions:

Product Sustainability:

Lead efforts to assess and improve the environmental impact of our products throughout their life cycle.
Collaborate with product development teams to integrate sustainable design principles and materials into new product development.
Implement and manage product sustainability certifications and standards, ensuring compliance and recognition for environmentally friendly products.
Evaluate new sustainable material and packaging certifications, standards, and programs to inform decision making on integration into CBH product, packaging and sustainable materials strategy.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including employees and suppliers, to communicate sustainability initiatives and foster a culture of responsibility.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with relevant sustainability organizations, industry groups, and NGOs to stay abreast of industry trends and collaborate on shared sustainability goals.
External Partnerships: Support engagement in relevant external stakeholder groups

Reporting and Analytics:

Develop and manage sustainability reporting frameworks to track and communicate progress on key performance indicators.

Energy Efficiency Associate

Cadmus seeks an Energy Efficiency Market Research Associate to join its Energy Sector’s Program Evaluation & Performance team. The successful candidate is expected to manage and conduct primary and secondary research on behalf of Cadmus’ energy clients (primarily utilities and administrators of energy efficiency programs). You will be responsible for managing projects, executing market research and analysis, and creating written reports on the findings. This role will be specifically focused on researching and evaluating energy efficiency programs and technology.

You should have professional experience in program evaluation, social science research methods, market transformation, and/or energy efficiency or sustainability. The candidate will be highly motivated to perform and learn, be able to work collaboratively and independently, manage assigned tasks and projects from start to finish with minimal input from supervisors, and have exceptional written, verbal, and analytical skills. We are looking for candidates with strong market research skills who have demonstrated experience with market transformation and market effects and program attribution studies.

Responsibilities

High-quality management, performance, and oversight of Cadmus market progress evaluation and market research projects
Design research plans and processes, including data collection activities (surveys, interviews, focus groups, literature review), data analysis, and synthesis of research findings and development of actionable recommendations for client consideration

Zero Waste Sustainability Manager

Duties:
• Responsible to support the school districts Zero-Waste program.

• Lead effort to implement, educate, and train housekeeping staff members on up-to-date zero[1]waste housekeeping standards.

• Work with District staff to ensure standards are met.

• Monitor and improve collection, separation, and transportation of materials, perform routine waste audits, identify cost savings opportunities, cost cost-neutral and income-producing streams.

• Develop, and update procedures and direct action of housekeeping staff related to recyclable materials collection and handling, support of university off-hours and weekend events

• Support donation programs with local churches and other local charities.

• Coordinate the actions of the Grounds/Litter Patrol and Recycling staff, including student workers.

• Supervise cleaning and maintenance of indoor and outdoor waste cans, including garbage cans and

toters.

• Inspect dumpster sites for compliance with the University’s waste management and stormwater management programs.

Senior Advisor – Decarbonization and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Data Expert

ORAU is seeking a Fully Remote, Senior Advisor- Decarbonization and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Data Expert to work with CMMI as an ORAU employee. The Senior Advisor will support the CMS Innovation Center’s effort to start a decarbonization initiative. Hospitals produce a signification amount of waste. As the nation’s largest health insurance payer, CMS can use its influence to reduce the amount of harmful waste that hospitals produce. An upcoming Innovation Center model called Transforming Episode Accountability Model (TEAM) includes a voluntary reporting requirement for hospitals. Hospitals will be able to submit decarbonization metrics to CMS. This position is Full-Time, Temporary.

CMMI was established by Congress in 2010 to identify ways to improve health-care quality and reduce costs in the Medicare, Medicaid, and Children’s Health Insurance (CHIP) Program. Following this charge, CMMI, through its models, initiatives, and Congressionally mandated demonstrations, has accelerated the shift from a health care system that pays for volume to one that pays for value. CMMI models are also researching and testing different approaches to innovative information technology systems which are essential to supporting this value transformation.
Responsibilities

The Senior Advisor will supply expertise to help CMS define the data reporting requirement for hospitals. CMS needs expertise in EPA Energy STAR Portfolio Manager and decarbonization concepts to complete this task.

1. Develop Technical Specifications Document for Decarbonization Reporting using the EPA’s Energy STAR Portfolio Manager. The document will enable model participants (e.g., hospitals) to know the data they must submit to CMS.

2. Serve as a SME to model teams and participants: Answer questions about the data specifications; Advise participants on how to comply with the data specifications; Advise technology teams on how to build data collection solutions; Advise on how to interpret and use the data collected from hospitals and EPA STAR Portfolio Manager.

3. Refine the questions and metrics outlined in the FY 2025 inpatient prospective payment system (IPPS) Final Rule for the Transforming Episode Accountability Model (TEAM).

4. Engage with external partners to refine assessment questions and metrics.

5. Identify additional data to be collected from participants and EPA Energy STAR Portfolio Manager.

6. Interview up to 20 academicians, researchers, and others to review and propose modifications to assessment questions, data, and metrics.

Senior Manager, Sustainability – Carbon Footprint

The Senior Manager of Sustainability will operate and lead as an indispensable member of the OU TI&SC leadership team. As a sustainability leader role reporting directly to OU Quality, Safety, and Environment (QSE) and will also be a member of the OU One Sustainability team with clear responsibility to coordinate the end-to-end technical sustainability agenda cross functionally across QSE, PACS and the OU Franchise teams. The following areas define the key focus of the role:

Technical sustainability strategy: As a key member of the OU TI&SC team ensure within the global sustainability strategy and commitments the most optimum and accelerated implementation of the OU sustainability strategy. Define and steward the OU technical sustainability strategy, commitments, initiatives, and prioritization to implement the OU growth agenda. Ensure accelerated progress of sustainability commitments on carbon/climate while ensuring OU sustainability-by-design leadership in innovation and across the supply chain. In collaboration with the PACS and OU sustainability leads influence the global and regional sustainability agenda and investments.

Develop OU TI&SC Sustainability strategy, enable implementation of the strategy, monitor the internal and external trends.

Develop carbon modelling, emission projections across the 5 pillars of Ingredients, Packaging, Cold Drink Equipment, Manufacturing and Distribution. Determine interventions needed and technical feasibility of such interventions. Deliver carbon glide path with clear y-o-y guidance on progress.

Execute sustainability engagement and technical advocacy with customer teams to identify and evaluate potential customer partnership opportunities aligned with the Operating Unit’s strategy and ambitions.

Serve as the customer lead for technical sustainability to provide support for the networked organization and customer reporting requests (i.e. familiarity and/or experience with The Sustainability Consortium’s THESIS reporting platform, EcoVadis, and other notable sustainability reporting tools).

Technical management of customer and asset partner sustainability projects and annual engagements (i.e. technical lead for College & University Business Case competition, biennial Customer Sustainability Summit, collaborative business planning etc.)

This position is available in Richmond, VA; Denver, CO; D.C.; and Portland, OR. A valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities include leading sustainability scopes from pre-planning through post-construction based on a variety of third-party standards and criteria, such as those from USGBC, GBCI, ILFI, IWBI, WBDG, etc. This requires coordination with internal and external project teams, leading charrettes and workshops, conducting drawing and specification reviews, assigning and managing work of others and acting as a technical expert. This role also includes participation in marketing and business development as needed, including writing scopes for new work.

The successful candidate must have all of the following:

A bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering, Sustainability, Interior Design, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture or related field
At least sixteen years of relevant experience
Three or more of the following accreditations: LEED AP BD+C, LEED AP ID+C, GPCP, LFA or similar

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:

Experience managing multiple projects at the same time
Client management experience

Salary Range: $110k-$130k
